It’s been awhile since I shared a Work Wear Wednesday post with you ladies and to be honest it is for a few reasons. Number one being that I started this series to bring you office appropriate looks but I want it to be more than that. I want these posts to have valuable information in them as well. Wether that be career advice, styling tips, business etiquette or a funny story – I always want each post to have purpose behind it. So although I have plenty of outfits that I want to share with you ladies, when I don’t have a grand topic to speak about I usually skip over Work Wear Wednesday that week.

So for this week’s post I asked all of you what you wanted to see and boy did I get some good topic requests! I promise I will get to all of them but when one of you asked how to style wide leg pants I jumped at the idea of styling a new piece. I have been eyeing this trend for awhile and actually own a few pairs but styling them for work was a new venture. When I was styling a few different outfits, whether they were for the office or the not, these 3 things stayed true.

PANTS SHOULD BE THE FOCAL POINT

Let your pants do the talking. Since you are styling a piece with a little more character than normal there is no need to overdo it with the rest of your outfit. I promise you the pants speak for themselves so anything too flaunt worthy with the rest of your outfit will be overkill. If you pants have a pattern on them, make sure the top is a solid color. If your pants are a solid color, throw on a patterned top but make sure it is on the simple side. No bells and whistles.

SHIRT SHOULD BE TUCKED IN

Because of the drama down south, you 100% need to tuck your shirt in or tie it in a knot (for casual outfits). If you don’t tuck or tie your top, your waist line will essentially disappear. When you are dressing for the office, I almost always live by this rule but especially when you are styling any type of bottoms that are not form fitting. It will look more polished and overall make you look more flattering.

SHOES SHOULD ELONGATE YOUR LEGS

If you notice, the majority of the wide leg pant options out there are cropped, meaning that they expose the ankles. Whether you are wearing wide leg or more form fitting cropped pants, a trick to elongate your legs is to wear a shoe that does not draw attention to the ankle. A small ankle strap is ok (as pictured above) but pumps will do the job even better! Boots are 100% a no go.

There are so many options out there right now that you should have no problem finding a pair that works best for your body type. I’ve gone ahead and rounded up a few of my favorites for the office and casual wear for you ladies to try out and almost all of them are under $100, with most being under $50.
