Something Blue.

Happy Monday everyone and hope you all had a great weekend! I got to have a pretty relaxing weekend which consisted of lots of movies, played with my new camera, had a brunch date with Britt (from Hello Honey blog), and visited my parents. All in all it was a much needed break from what seems like such a busy last few weeks.

For Christmas my mom gave me the most beautiful blue coat that I have ever laid eyes on. I am a sucker for anything blue because it is such a fun, bright color and makes those blue eyes pop! O and speaking of mama I get my love for fashion from her, and budget fashion at that. We call her the Queen of Ross and Marshalls! So you can see where my Marshalls/Tj Maxx obsession comes from. I will have to feature her on the blog here pretty soon so you all can see the cutest mama around!

On black Friday I scored some amazing Loft finds including this dress with it’s darling beaded collar. Have you ever heard it’s all in the details? This dress sure got the memo! With details that stand out like that, I like to down play my accessories. I went with some iridescent earrings and ring that don’t overpower the detailing on the dress.

This dress is so modest, yet so chic and high fashion. You could easily transition this outfit from day to night. I have worn this dress to work, to holiday events, and would most definitely wear it out to dinner. To say it is a versatile look would be pretty accurate! The booties that I am wearing I scored earlier in the season for $20 at Ross but I have linked a similar pair.

Before ending today’s post I’d like to share with you guys that I hit a milestone this weekend-1,000 followers on Instagram!! It may not sound like much but it was my goal to get one thousand followers by the time I hit my 3 month mark and I met that goal 2 weeks early. So I wanted to say thank you to all of you and that I plan on celebrating all of these little milestones because the small things matter! I didn’t know if launching the blog would go anywhere and you all are showing me that I might actually know what I am talking about. Thank you for following along on this crazy journey with me and letting me share my love for fashion with you guys!

Shelbi’s Wine List.

By no means do I think of myself as a wine connoisseur ,but I do think I have mastered how to have expensive wine taste on a budget. I thought about waiting until Wednesday to post this since apparently #winewednesday is a thing. I then realized the real winos out there (y’all are the real MVPs) will appreciate this today just as much as if it were Wednesday because 1) it’s Friday and 2) you are probably already on your second glass. So cheers! I’m going to keep this simple and narrow it down to my top 5 red wines. Why red? Because I would choose a glass of red wine over white 10 out of 10 times. Now if I am buying myself wine, there is a 9 out of 10 chance that its going to be Dreaming Tree (aka my number 1 choice on the list below). The other 4 are solid choices too! Don’t get me wrong I LOVE a nice bottle of wine, but these choices sure do get me through the week just fine 🙂 I would also like to add that they pair VERY nicely with crepes. My favorite crepe recipe will also be coming in a later blog post so stay tuned!

Wine list

1. Dreaming Tree Cabernet Sauvignon – $13

2. Noble Vines 337 Cabernet Sauvignon– $10

3. Coppola Black Label Claret– $13

4. Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon– $12

5. La Crema Pinot Noir– $16

Blazer & Denim.

There is something about mixing fashion trends and changing it up from the norm that gets me excited! When I saw this blazer and it’s cute elbow patches I knew it would find the perfect home in my closet! Funny how when you know, you just know right?! 🙂 I wanted to dress down the blazer and try a simple pair of nice, denim jeans with it and then top off the look with some statement heels.

You can easily find me wearing this look to work on casual Fridays, to a lunch meeting, church, or a happy hour event. This look is so versatile since it’s very conservative, yet just the right mix of “boss lady” and casual.

I’m not ashamed to say that these earrings have been on CONSTANT repeat. Maroon is such a great fall/winter staple color that I wear non-stop. If you have been wanting some Kendra Scott earrings, I highly suggest this beautiful maroon pair!

If the houndstooth pattern didn’t sell me already, the elbow patches were a shoo-in. All I can say is if you do not own a single piece of clothing with elbow patches on it you are wrong! They add a vintage appeal to your clothing that makes it easy to dress up or dress down any outfit.

Blazer (similar) // Shirt // Jeans // Heels (similar) // Earrings

My jeans, shirt and blazer all came from Marshalls but I have linked the same or similar options for you. Happy humpday loves and hopefully this post inspires you to try this trend of pairing a blazer with your every day jeans. I personally think it makes for a very modern day boss lady, what do y’all think?!

Sweater Dress & India Hicks Giveaway

Be sure to read all the way to the bottom of this post since there is a giveaway for one special follower! I was lucky enough to partner with India Hicks, a premier lifestyle brand that sells beauty and fashion products. After receiving this amazing clutch I had to pair it with something as high end as it made me feel, which meant bringing out my new booties for the occasion.

2016 Planners.

Friday Favorites: 2016 Planners

So I wanted to do something a little different with the blog and bring you guys something every Friday that is not an outfit post. I am presenting to you “Friday Favorites”, or “FF” for short, and this can be anything from items that I am currently coveting, ideas for holidays/events, places to try, home decor, my favorite jewelry…. you get the picture 🙂 Since my new year’s resolution is to get more organized, that included investing in a good planner to keep me on track. So my first post is dedicated to 2016 planners that I have researched and picked as my top suggestions based on personality types. If you have yet to get yourself a 2016 planner, this is the post for you!

one Canoe two– The “cutesy” planner

If you are the type that adores fun prints and cute calligraphy writing, this planner tops the list on the cute factor. Each month is laid out and then broken out weekly. Each day of the week has its own blank square with ample room for notes, doodles, to-dos, etc. This planner comes in at $42.

Erin Condren– The Overplanner

Calling all bloggers, busy gals, OCDers, or anyone that lives in their planner- this is the planner for you! Being the most expensive on the list at $50-$75 for a planner, it is well worth the money. The great part about this planner is that it is pretty customizable. You can pick what layout you would like (horizontal, vertical, or hourly) since every gal plans differently. It also has the function to trade out covers and other “party” pages within the planner by simply popping them in and out of the coils.

Day Designer The Girlboss

If you want to combine your mile long to do lists, goal sheets, and planner all in one then this is the planner for you. With motivational quotes to daily to-do lists to plans for dinner, the Day Designer has thought of it all and is the perfect resource to keep everything in one place. These planners are $59.

Rifle Paper Co.– The Darling Planner

Sweet and simple, this planner is the first on the list that is not coil bound but more like a notebook. This planner has a monthly and weekly break out containing lined sections. Coming in at $30, this is your every-day planner spruced up with cute designs and layouts.

Lilly Pulitzer– The “girly” planner

Bright colors and paradise themed, the Lilly Pullitzer planner is super girly. It features a hard cover, monthly to-do lists, motivational quotes and even has areas for travel plans and adventures. For $30 this is a step up from your normal, everyday planner.

Sugar Paper– The Minimalist

If you don’t want to spend the money on a huge, all-in-one planner and maybe just need a simple planner that you can write down your weekly agenda, look no further. For $13 you can’t beat what this planner has to offer. It is cute and functional with enough room for all of your notes and plans.
