What is Rocksbox?

Rocksbox is a premier jewelry monthly subscription. For just $19 a month they send you 3 pieces valued at an average of $200. You can return the jewelry as often as you would like to get 3 new pieces sent to you. You can purchase the jewelry for a discounted price or simply return it and get something new! You have a stylist assigned to you that chooses your pieces based on a profile that you fill out and then a wishlist that you can maintain. I particularly love the idea of Rocksbox because it allows me to try out jewelry before I buy it. I also get to stay on top of new trends without having to commit to making an expensive jewelry purchase. Use my code itsallchictomexoxo to test it out and get a month for free! I tried it on a whim and now can’t image not having it!

Date Night Ready

Valentine’s Day is officially 2 days away and I wanted to leave you guys with this darling lace detail dress. Lace is one of the most feminine and dainty looks and pairing that with the color red sure does make for a perfect and elegant Valentine’s look. So I couldn’t end the week of Valentine’s Day inspired posts without a girly red dress and my top date night ideas. The thing is, it doesn’t matter if your Valentine’s day is spent with family, friends, gal pals, or a loved one, let’s get a little dressed up and enjoy some time with those we care about! I have some pretty fun “play dates” that I think you all will enjoy!

This little cocktail dress is super girly, probably why I love it! You will see that the only accessories that I felt the need to pair it with are some statement earrings and a bold red lip. The dress has so much detailing on it that I didn’t want to overpower the dress with added jewelry.

Dress (very similar and only $35) // Shoes (only $20) // Earrings (similar) // Lipstick

These shoes are a knock-off of the popular Steve Madden Stecy shoes but at a quarter of the cost. When I saw them at Target I immediately bought them in every color because that’s what any sane person would do right?! Don’t worry they only came in nude and black. Thank the lord there weren’t more colors than that because I probably would have bought those too! I like to give you guys options since I know everyone likes something a little different. I have found some more red lace dress options hereherehere and here.

Date Ideas:

  1. Wine Night- Inspired by my most recent idea to start a wine club, get a couple of girlfriends together or your significant other and each bring a bottle of wine. The more wine the better for this one. My roommate has taught me this game that we find to be so much fun, especially for all you winos. Try to guess the ingredients of the wine! We usually have one person that doesn’t participate and gives clues. For example: 2 berries, 1 “earthy” ingredient, and 1 spice. It makes for some funny answers for sure. Get a cheese and meat platter selection from your local grocery store and enjoy some good conversation, play a game (mexican train is always my favorite!), or watch a movie and relax.
  2. Pizza Bar- Now if I didn’t actually have to really think about 5 good date ideas all of them would be something like this one: donut bar, pasta bar, chocolate bar….you get the picture. Go to the store and get all of the ingredients you would need to make a pizza. Set everything up at home in an assembly line format and start making away! You can find some yummy and simple pizza recipes on Pinterest if you are wanting to get adventurous! And you know what goes great with pizza right? Wine.
  3. Netflix and Chill- Now I’m not sure what your version of Netflix and chill is, but mine is basically a pajama party. Go get a couple of Netflix movies, your favorite snack, put on your fuzzy socks and pile on the blankets. For an added bonus you can take all of the couch cushions off and make a pallet on the floor with pillows and blankets like you are a little kid again! It. is. AWESOME.
  4. Painting with a Twist- If you have never been to one of these types of places they really are a blast and they are BYOB (or BYOW in my case) so that’s an added plus. Essentially it is an art class where they have a teacher that is walking you step by step how to paint a certain picture. Believe me you do not have to be an artist. They will make you feel like Picasso by the time you are done with it.
  5. Local Dessert Bar- Go to a local place that serves desserts. In Houston, my new personal favorite is Cacao & Cardamom. They have gourmet chocolates that are a work of art. Have fun sampling a few of your favorite desserts. Calories don’t count on Valentines Day!

Have a great Valentines Day with your loved ones and I can’t wait to hear what everyone did 🙂

Super Bowl Munchies

I’m going to be really honest here and I know this will probably come as a MAJOR shocker… but I could care less about the actual Super Bowl game. What I am super excited about is that I have an excuse to eat some yummy gameday food! Good party food is definitely a guilty pleasure of mine. Calories don’t count on Super Bowl Sunday, right? I’m sharing some of my go-to party dishes that all of my friends love and little do they know that even a 10 year old could make these! I have made all of these on countless occasions so I can vouch they are amazing and will surely be a crowd favorite at your Super Bowl party!

weeniePigs in a Blanket

  • Ingredients: Hillshire Farms Lit’l’ Smokies and Pillsbury Crescent Rolls
  • Instructions: Pull apart your crescent rolls and cut each section in 3 smaller triangles. Roll up a lit’l smokie in each triangle. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown. It is optional to serve with a side of mustard for dipping.

pizzaPizza Rolls

  • Ingredients: Mozeralla cheese sticks, pepperonis, marinara sauce, and crescent rolls
  • Instructions: Cut the mozzarella sticks in half. Pull apart your crescent rolls and place your halved mozerella stick and 4 pepperonis onto each triangle. Roll up each triangle. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Serve with a side of marinara sauce for dipping.

weenCrockpot Weenies

  • Ingredients: Hillshire Lit’l Smokies, BBQ Sauce, and grape jelly
  • Instructions: Dump the entire package of weenies, BBQ sauce and jelly into a small crockpot. Mix ingredients and then let it warm up for at least 30 minutes on low. Serve with toothpicks.

Ham & Cheese Sliders

  • Ingredients: 1 package of Hawaiian rolls, 1 pack of shaved deli ham, 1 pack of your favorite sliced cheese, 1 stick of butter, 1 TBSP mustard, 1 TBSP brown sugar
  • Instructions: Do not break apart rolls, instead cut the entire pack of rolls lengthwise like one big sandwich. Pile on ham and cheese all over the middle of the “sandwich” and place top of rolls back on. Heat butter, mustard and brown sugar in a pan. For added flavor add a splash of Worcestershire and a pinch of onion or garlic powder. Drizzle glaze over “sandwich”, cover the pan with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Cut sliders apart and serve.

bufchicBuffalo Chicken Dip

  • Ingredients: 1 jar of hooters buffalo wing sauce, 1 stick of cream cheese, 1 large can of chicken breast, 1 bottle of ranch dressing, 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • Instructions: Heat cream cheese and buffalo sauce in a pan over low heat until cream cheese is melty and creamy. Add in drained, shredded chicken, ranch, and 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheese. Stir until blended. Pour everything into a casserole dish and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Top with remaining 1/2 cup of cheese and serve with tortilla chips.

Shelbi’s Wine List.

By no means do I think of myself as a wine connoisseur ,but I do think I have mastered how to have expensive wine taste on a budget. I thought about waiting until Wednesday to post this since apparently #winewednesday is a thing. I then realized the real winos out there (y’all are the real MVPs) will appreciate this today just as much as if it were Wednesday because 1) it’s Friday and 2) you are probably already on your second glass. So cheers! I’m going to keep this simple and narrow it down to my top 5 red wines. Why red? Because I would choose a glass of red wine over white 10 out of 10 times. Now if I am buying myself wine, there is a 9 out of 10 chance that its going to be Dreaming Tree (aka my number 1 choice on the list below). The other 4 are solid choices too! Don’t get me wrong I LOVE a nice bottle of wine, but these choices sure do get me through the week just fine 🙂 I would also like to add that they pair VERY nicely with crepes. My favorite crepe recipe will also be coming in a later blog post so stay tuned!

Wine list

1. Dreaming Tree Cabernet Sauvignon – $13

2. Noble Vines 337 Cabernet Sauvignon– $10

3. Coppola Black Label Claret– $13

4. Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon– $12

5. La Crema Pinot Noir– $16
