Another day closer to the holiday weekend has me counting down the hours until I get to bust out the red, white and blue and sip watermelon mojitos by the pool. Whose with me? I’m getting ready for July 4th today with a little help from Charming Charlie. I plan on beating the heat the best way I know how- some cut offs, all white, and my favorite sunnies. Ok maybe that watermelon mojito might help cool me down too so now that I think about it, I might need to have 2 of those 🙂

Embroidery is timeless and always will be! As far as trends go, this is one that always catches my eye in any store that I go in. I love mixing old with new when it comes to clothing, colors, and especially trends. White on white might seem like a new trend that you are seeing, but it could not be more timeless. If done properly it is such a flattering look. With all of this Houston heat, I chose to pair this cute embroidered top white my go-to white shorts, but a pair of white jeans would also look great with this ensemble. My favorite pair of white skinnies are these Joes jeans.

White jeans are definitely one piece of clothing that I suggest not skimping on because if someone has to debate if you are wearing white leggings or white skinny jeans, you are probably going to regret not spending those extra dollars. White in general is a color you want to make sure the quality of the clothing is well..high quality. Anything that is too tight or see through, white amplifies. So if you are questioning it in the store, move on to the next piece. If you are scared to go all white, try a top that is predominantly white with small pops of color. It will help you ease into the look instead of diving straight in.

If you still aren’t sure what you will be wearing for July 4th, feel free to check out my other holiday inspired outfit post here. I also rounded up all of my favorite red, white and blue picks here in case you are a gal that likes her options. Whatever your plans may be for the holiday weekend, I hope you have a great one!

Happy Monday friends! Is it just me or do weekends seem so much shorter in the Summer?? RIP the days when I actually had the time to get a great tan! It might only be Monday but I am already excited about the 3 day holiday weekend.

For today’s look I wanted to bring you an outfit that doesn’t scream your typical July 4th outfit. While it is fun and festive to rock those stars and stripes or all of the red, white and blue pieces that you manage to dig out of the bottom of your closet, I know some of you still want to be festive AND chic! So instead of wearing your typical colors this holiday, try changing it up a bit. Coral is a very close (and maybe a little more fun!) color to red and turquoise is blue’s better looking cousin. I wanted to keep some white in there so I ended up with a new take on your traditional red, white and blue and came out with coral, white and turquoise.

Sticking with one of my favorite Summer trends, I paired this off-the-shoulder top with these striped, coral shorts. Since I plan on being outdoors for the occasion, sandals are definitely a must. This pair just happens to be under $20 and I will be the first to admit that I own them in 3 different colors!

So if you are wanting to take a new spin on some of the traditional July 4th outfit routes, my suggestion is playing around with similar colors and patterns. You can still wear red, white and blue but don’t be afraid to put your own spin on it. When it comes to colors, don’t be afraid to branch out with similar colors, like coral and turquoise.

Another piece of advice is to rock one of your favorite red, white, blue, or similar colored attire and then add in festive details to bring your outfit together. I always like adding in pops of the holiday colors into my accessories. If you still aren’t sure what to wear this weekend, check back Wednesday for more July 4th outfit inspiration and I will also have plenty of red, white and blue throughout the week on my Instagram so make sure you are following along!

Next weekend is July 4th and I wanted to give you some outfit inspiration for the occasion! My plans aren’t set in stone yet but if I had to guess you will most likely find me by the pool with a cocktail in my hand! Whatever your plans are for the day, don’t forget to wear your stars and stripes. Stocking up on a few red, white and blue pieces never hurts because there are so many occasions throughout the year to wear them. If I’m not at the pool, I will probably be wearing this cute striped Summer dress that I wore on Memorial Day as well.

Do you have any big plans for the long weekend? If you plan to hangout by the pool and want a hip float to keep you dry, I’ve rounded up all of the best (and yummiest!) pool floats here. Also stay tuned this week for more red, white and blue inspired outfits!

Here we go again talking about color! I know for some of you ladies out there that bringing color into your outfit can be a very sensitive topic but my hope from reading this blog is that you are able to slowly start adding color into your daily outfits. So why not start with the most colorful season of the year? Summer! Maybe not all at once and it’s probably going to take a few tries, but I promise you it will change your outlook on fashion and suddenly getting dressed in the morning doesn’t involve hiding behind those neutral shades. If you are normally sensitive to color or maybe you just have been looking for the perfect summer shades to start incorporating into your outfits, I have you covered.

Coral and turquoise are always my go-to colors for summer. Yes, there are several other colors that I love to wear, but these 2 just seem to stick every single Summer. You seriously can’t go wrong with either of these! While we are on the topic of summer colors, I want to point out that Summer is the time to bust out any bright color that your little heart desires. But if bright colors just really scare you, try blush instead of hot pink, periwinkle instead of turquoise, or lilac instead of bright purple. There is always a compromise when it comes to color. Start small and work your way to the top 🙂 The easiest way to start adding in color to your ensemble is to start with the accessories- jewelry, belts, and purses. Turquoise is a fun color to accessorize multiple outfits and goes with every neutral shade! Happy Monday friends! I took a step back this weekend from social media and boy did it feel good. I’m sure none of you noticed because before blogging I sure as heck wouldn’t have, but I felt compelled to let you all in on why! It seems silly to have to think of social media as part of your to-do list, but for me, sadly, it has become just that! I no longer post whenever the occasion arises, instead I try to post 2-3 times a day so I can keep you all up to date on what is currently on the blog and also give you a way to shop my outfit details. As always you can find all of my ready to shop outfit details here. That being said taking some time off from social media is needed for everyone especially when it starts to interfere with your day to day activities. This weekend I had friends in town and then spent yesterday with my family to celebrate Father’s Day with my sweet daddio so being social media free allowed me to spend my undivided time with the ones I love! But don’t worry I will be back in full force now 🙂

Now onto this cute outfit that I wore last weekend for the Pinterest workshop that I attended. Pinterest workshop you ask? It is just want it sounds like! I got to learn from the best, Meg (from Meg O. on the Go) as well as Channing and Michelle (from MWOA), about how to use Pinterest as a resource to drive traffic to your blog. I’m telling y’all it really is crazy how much stuff goes into all of this that I had NO idea about! If this is something that any of you are interested in and would be interested in seeing a blog post about it, please let me know!

My top is actually a tunic that I tied in the front for a more casual look. Tunics are great because they can be worn so many different ways. With pants, leggings, shorts or even as cover ups! Being that I am petite, it can be hard finding a tunic with the right length. You also have the struggle of wearing the right pants so it doesn’t end up looking like a dress. I actually wore the tunic untied for part of the workshop and then decided it looked even cuter tied in the front so I switched it up midday. I loved that it was still long in the back with a little “party” in the front. I added in my favorite summer wedges and pops of red to top off this minimalistic look. I will definitely be recreating this look come July 4th since the red, white and blue isn’t too overbearing and still super stylish! Be sure to check out Lilla P.’s website as they are having their July 4th sale and everything is 30% off!
