You better BELIZE it.

A couple of weeks ago I was able to travel to Belize for the second time and it did not disappoint. It was amazing to get away from the busy pace of life and just relax on the beach. To be phoneless and out of touch with reality for the week was such a breath of fresh air but is also why I only got 4 pictures while I was there.

We stayed on Ambergris Caye, an island off of the mainland. There is a quaint, adventurous feeling about the island. Everything about Belize screams beauty. Not your 5 star, all inclusive, breath-taking view kind of beautiful but something a little different. At first sight Belize looks run down, poor, and ugly. The waters near the beach were murky from the storms and seaweed, but further out the waters were crystal blue and beautiful. That didn’t bother me much because there is just something amazing about waking up with the beach 15 feet from your front door step, being able to enjoy a cup of coffee while watching the waves crash, and finding adventure in exploring the winding beaches. Living simply for the week is what I enjoyed most. Belize is known for being the second best dive spot in the nation. Unfortunately I have bad ears and can never go scuba diving, but it did not stop me from enjoying the beautiful blue waters and dipping my toes in the sea!

My favorite part of the trip was our fishing trip. We took a boat out, caught lots of snapper (yes they are itty bitty but I was SO proud nonetheless), and then our captain took us to a small island and cooked us lunch full of smoked fish and ceviche. BEST CEVICHE EVER (I wish I had a picture to share because the colors were out of this world). I can promise you now that there will definitely be some ceviche coming to a blog near you in the near future 🙂 While there we met a group of locals that we spent a lot of time with. This group came from all over the world, most being from Texas and Florida to retire. They gave us recommendations for food and other activities that were not “touristy”. We enjoyed lots of mojitos, ceviche, and lobster. The best places to go to on vacation are always the ones that the locals recommend. If you don’t normally ask for the locals’ advice when you are on vacation, you are missing out! If any of you are traveling to Belize and need recommendations I would be glad to share where we stayed and ate any meals!

A little bit of Fringe.

Fringe sweater, ripped jeans, heelsimage

Sweater: Adam Lippes // Jeans: Target ($18!) // Heels(similar): Nine West // Hat(similar): J Crew // Earrings: Kendra Scott

Maybe I am biased because I am an Aggie or maybe it is my obsession with red wine, but maroon will forever be my favorite go-to color. I would say that is the case for the fall but that would be a lie since I wear it all year round! This outfit is perfect for the cool weather. Down here in Houston the weather hasn’t made it’s mind up about the impending winter weather so it makes for some tricky outfit choices. This sweater is a statement piece in itself so there is really no need to dress it up. All I had to do was stick some colored pumps and earrings on and let the sweater do the talking! The good thing about this sweater is that once it gets colder all you have to do is stick a sweater or long sleeve top under it.

I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend! I will do a post soon with all of my black Friday finds and would love to hear from you about yours as well!

Blanket Scarf- Thanksgiving Look #2.

Sweater (similar): Nordstrom // Leggings (old): Zara // Scarf: Target // Shoes: Target // Necklace: Kendra Scott // Hat (similar): Nordstrom

Since my first Thanksgiving look was more so on the comfortable side, I decided to share a dressier option for my second Thanksgiving Day outfit inspiration. The best part about this outfit is that 1) the leggings give me all the room in the world for those second (or third) helpings and 2) I picked up almost everything I am wearing from either Ross, Target, or TJ Maxx. That means this outfit is 2 things. Stylish and Cheap. My 2 favorite words to describe fashion. Don’t worry I have linked comparable, similar options that won’t break the bank.

This look might just be my favorite combo yet. If I had to pick one outfit that had almost all of my favorite fashion staples this would be it: leather leggings, plaid blanket scarf, leopard heels, and a fall hat. You will most likely find me in either leggings or jeans on Turkey day as I am sure a lot of you will be. These leather leggings are so versatile because they can be dressed up or dressed down. I chose to dress them up with my leopard heels and hat but they could be easily dressed down with riding boots or flats. You can look at my previous post, Black & White, for another take on these leather leggings.

Have a great Wednesday and Thanksgiving week friends!

Gingham style- Thanksgiving look #1.

Gingham top, army vest, and bootiesimageimageimageimageimage

Vest (similar): Anthropologie // Gingham shirt (similar): Vineyard Vines // Jeans: Lucky Brand // Booties: DSW

Happy Thanksgiving week! I am SO excited for a 3 day work week and spending time with family. Every year we make our way to Dallas, TX to spend Thanksgiving with my dad’s side of the family. I have been looking forward to smoked turkey, sweet potatoes, and gingerbread cookies for weeks now. The inner fatty in me loves this time of year a little too much 🙂

I will be sharing a few outfit choices for Thanksgiving day throughout the week. You see all kinds of outfits at our family’s get together so I will be mixing it up. When it comes to Turkey day my one requirement is that my outfit leaves me room for seconds!!

My first look is the one you will most likely find me in on Thursday. It is just so easy to throw on and these booties are a no brainer if I have to be on my feet for an extended amount of time. These pieces are simple classics that you can wear with almost anything. There is just something about a vest that adds that extra something to an outfit when I am too lazy to get dressed up. These cute Kendra Scott earrings help in that department too 🙂 They have been on repeat!!

Have a great Monday and Thanksgiving week!
