I can hardly believe that I am turning a quarter of a century. The BIG 2-5! My youngest sister, Kacey, has been building the hype for about a year now. Every month on the 7th, she has texted me with a count down till my birthday to remind me that I am turning a quarter of a century. 25 is a milestone birthday for sure. You aren’t quite yet to 30, but all of a sudden you are half way through your 20s and it kinda starts to feel like you should have your shit figured out. Welp, my shit ain’t figured out one bit.

While there are plenty of things that I have learned in my 20s, there is still so much more to learn and grow. It’s funny how I flip flop back and forth between wanting to become this independent, strong, hard working woman and throwing a tantrum every morning when my alarm goes off. 25 going on 5.

So cheers to 25 years and not having it ALL figured out! But I wanted to go ahead and share 25 things that only took me 25 years to realize. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

1. Spaghettio’s and wine are my dinner specialties more nights than not. If the Kroger cashier judges me one more time for buying wine in bulk… your girl is just trying to get her 6 bottle discount.

2. Coffee is a necessary evil. I say this because I am allergic. I’m talking heart racing and sweat sessions #sexy

3. Time flies by faster and faster each year. Oh to be back in college when I swore I would never make it out of there. What I would give for time to slow down like that now.

4. Your high school bod is a thing of the past. Goodbye perky butt, hello cellulite. O and prepare for everything to change. Hair type, eyebrows (so not on fleek), adult acne, body pains. Everything your mom warned you about.

5. Always take the road less traveled. Even if it is just the stairs vs the elevator 😉 because that’s a good tip in itself.

6. Nobody has it figured out in their 20s and if they say that they do, they are LYING. I’ve come to find out that we are all just children pretending to be adults. Except some of us have to try a little harder than others. That would be me.

7. Friends that you thought would be around to support your wildest dreams will fall short. Others will come into your life unexpectedly and make the biggest impact. Funny how that happens.

8. God never gives us more than we can handle.

9. You are supposed to put more into your savings account than you take out. I swear you’d think they would teach these things in grade school but some of us don’t learn that till our 20s.

 10. Girls are bitches. That’s right, I said it. Unfortunately you will never outgrow the girl drama. Some girls just thrive on it. Run from those girls and don’t look back.

11. Surround yourself with people that will tell it like it is. Nothing is more refreshing than the truth.

12. Don’t settle. Not for a boy, for a job, for a promotion, nothing. You simply deserve the best.

13. Hangovers exist. And they suck.

14. Learn to stand up for yourself. Confidence isn’t something you are born with, it’s something that is developed and the more you practice, the easier it will be.

15. You learn to appreciate your parents so much more and also realize it’s mostly because everything that they ever said turned out to all be right.

16. Laughter is the best medicine. It always pairs nicely with a bottle of wine and girlfriends. I hear it’s much cheaper than therapy and a good ab workout too.

17. Be unapologetic for who you are and never ever feel like you have to explain yourself.

18. Your time and energy are so much better spent being happy for other people than tearing them down. Negative energy takes years off your life. Seriously.

19. Cozying up on the couch is pretty much the equivalent of a rager. Fuzzy socks just add to the cool factor.

20. Brunch is always a good idea. It serves as 2 meals now how genius is that?!

21. Every experience, every action and every person shapes who you are. So rid yourself of the negative influences and surround yourself with positivity.

22. You are exactly where you need to be. It may not feel like it, but have faith that God’s plan is far greater than anything you could have ever imagined.

23. If a friendship or relationship feels forced, it’s not worth your time.

24. Mornings are when all of the magic happens. I think mom referred to those as the witching hours but dang are they the productive ones.

25. Everything is temporary. The good and the bad. So I’m learning to soak up the good times and not dwell on the bad.

Well folks, now that I am 25 do I look and sound that much wiser?! Because I’m pretty sure I woke up feeling super mature. That’s probably just the birthday excitement getting to my head though 🙂

Since we are headed to a pajama party this evening and I live in Christmas pajamas this time of year, this post seemed too fitting! Yesterday, Britt (she blogs at Hello Honey), came over to my parent’s house for a girls day complete with cozying up by the fireplace and making a fresh batch of mama’s homemade hot chocolate. Don’t worry the secret recipe is on the blog here!

Buffalo plaid is making it’s big debut this season which I love because it is so festive for the holidays. I’m ashamed to say how many pieces of buffalo plaid I have recently bought, but you can be assured that almost all of them are pajamas! See below for some of my favorites.

Tried and true plaid, especially in holiday festive colors, will always be a staple and one of my personal favorites. It’s easy to find this all year round but I always tend to stock up around the holidays when it is most abundant.

If you are in search of the perfect Christmas pajamas, look no further. I have an entire page with the best options on the internet here. When in doubt of what to give for Christmas, pajamas and cozy gifts are always a good idea. I don’t know a single person that doesn’t like to receive pajamas as gifts. Probably because I wouldn’t be friends with those type of crazies 😉

My family started the Christmas jammie tradition last year and it is already one of my favorites! If you do not know what I am talking about, I am referring to where every Christmas Eve the entire family will wear matching pajamas and so that come Christmas morning it makes for some cute family photos because we doesn’t love to match?! The way that my mom does it is that she will wrap up our pajamas and let us open one present on Christmas Eve. Any guesses what it is?! 🙂

If you do not already have this tradition with your family, it is certainly a cute and fun one! I HIGHLY suggest buying your matching pajamas like yesterday. Come December it will be impossible to find available sizes online and nobody likes getting down to the wire and then not being able to find what they are looking for. If you do not see anything that immediately catches your eye above, I do have an entire Christmas Jammies shop page, that you should check out because it has even more options!

There is a good chance that several of these options will go one sale for Black Friday and/or Cyber Monday but that is also when most stores sell out. So my sincere advice to you is to go ahead and make your purchases now and not risk being able to find them later on.

I don’t know about all of you but I am getting so excited to cozy up by the fire in some soft jammies, sip hot chocolate, and watch Christmas movies. Stay tuned for more gift guides throughout the week and first dibs on the best Black Friday deals!

While suede for the cooler weather is nothing new, albeit you didn’t know how many shades of suede were actually out there to choose from! Retailers are making just about every clothing piece, head to toe, in some form of suede. I’ve had fun this season bringing suede into my every day attire as well as my work wardrobe for a little bit of unexpected spice!

Today’s ensemble is featuring two of my favorite suede shades, navy and gray. These navy suede leggings have become my best friend for this cool weather we’ve been getting. You know that I am all about the clothing items that are both fashionable and comfortable and these mark both of those boxes. I love them so much that I plan on getting these in a couple more colors such as these and these.  I love that I can wear them to work and out. When you find pieces like that, you stock up!

Since gray suede is a more neutral color, you will find many boots, jackets and purses in this color. I bought this pair of booties last year and this purse (which is an amazing dupe of the Chloe bag) this year. Both have become closet staples and go with absolutely everything.

To continue on with several other colors that I have seen popping up, I have rounded up my favorite shades of suede in 5 different color options. If you do not own anything suede yet, I highly suggest buying a jacket. You can never go wrong with a suede jacket and every girl needs one.

One Year Blogiversary

WOW, I can’t believe it has been an entire year! I know that’s what most people say when they’ve hit a milestone but this just doesn’t even come close. I look back to my first post, somewhat embarrassing now, but all I see is how far I have come. 125 blog posts and 12 thousand followers later and I think you can tell that this little blog that started out as a creative outlet and a way to escape adulthood actually morphed into something. But honestly, I am still shocked that people other than my mom actually want to read about what I have to say!

While I have learned LOTS along the way (there will be a blog post coming soon!), I wanted to spend today sharing some of my favorite memories from the past year that showcase what It’s All Chic To Me is all about.

Starting the blog

(find the post here)

NYFW Street Style: Pink fringe dress + sneakers

Somehow it took me almost an entire year to finally share where It’s All Chic To Me came from but nonetheless it’s an important part of this blog. Part of me wonders what life was like before I started the blog. My main hopes for starting the blog were for two reasons. 1) I needed a creative outlet and 2) I was in desperate need of friends. After college I felt like I was almost starting over in the friend department and my social life was lacking to say the least. Little did I know that all you had to do was become a blogger and your social life would never ever be dull again! I have had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people and attending the most fabulous events over the past year! I even got to host 2 of my own events. This was a highlight for sure! You can find a recap of my Topshop event here and my Beehive event here.

Meeting my girl tribe

(find the post here)

Blogger Tribe

NYFW street style, girl gang, Sex and the City, Community over competition

I could go on and on about all of the wonderful friends I have made through blogging. Like I said earlier, I was desperately craving to fill the void of being surrounded by so many college friends. Entering the next chapter of my life in Houston and into adulthood, I needed a support system. Many of the ladies I have met through blogging are now some of my closest friends and I talk to almost every single day. From Chick-fil-a lunch dates, countless photo shoots, phone calls about anything and everything, attending NYFW, wine nights, millions of events, and so much more, these ladies have proved to be more than my support system, they are some of my best friends! I won’t name all of my blogger besties, but you know who you are and I am SO thankful for you!

Attending New York Fashion Week

(find all of my posts here)

NYFW 2016, New York street style, New York Fashion Week style

New York Fashion Week recap, Leather pants + lace collared top

New York Fashion week street style: black off the shoulder top + white skirt + fringe heels

This is by far my favorite memory from my first year! All of my Carrie Bradshaw dreams came true in a matter of 4 days. I have never seen so much passion for fashion anywhere else and it was truly exhilarating getting to experience all of the fashion events and street style first hand. I was able to attend fashion shows, meet some of my fashion icons, and connect with brands and companies that I work with from afar. The icing on the cake was getting to go with 3 of my blogger besties, Margret, Britt and Dede. You can find all of my daily recaps here.

I wouldn’t dare end this post without a HUGE thank you to all of you who make this little space of the internet feel like a home.
