With Valentine’s Day falling on a Wednesday this year, I wanted to provide some inspiration for all of my girlboss ladies that will be going straight from the office to dinner. What I love about this dress, is it’s versatility. You could honestly wear it for any occasion and if that’s not a total selling point get this! It is under $50 and comes in 10 colors! I’ve been eyeing the Tea Rose and Vintage Indigo colors next – so perfect for Spring! It does run true to size and is long enough for work. For height purposes, I am 5’4″.

My pro tip for all of my working ladies that want to easily transition their outfit from day to night is to always stash a pair of black strappy heels, jeans and a bold lip color (my go-to is MAC “Diva”) in your desk drawer or car. My badass jacket has found a permanent place in my car trunk as well because you can’t tell me that this doesn’t automatically up the cool factor on any outfit you put on! There are so many times these 3 essentials saved me from having to make a quick dash home and wasting perfectly good happy hour time #priorties If you are still looking for a Valentine’s Day dress or if you are a gal that likes to stock up on versatile dresses that can take you seamlessly from day to night (my type of girls!), then here are a few more options! Also, if you are a fan of these day to night posts, check here for more!

I talked Kylee into another Work Wear Wednesday post because two looks are so much better than one am I right?! I’m not kidding when I said I pulled a 360 in the car when I saw these two shirts in the Talbots window. I’ve recently discovered Talbots for work wear and while I will say they are hit or miss for me, they do have the cutest, festive tops! Their Christmas selection was on point and Valentine’s Day is too. One reason that I love their selection is that everything comes in petite and plus sizing which is great for this petite girl!

Whether you work in an office, a classroom or just want a cute and semi professional outfit this Valentine’s Day (or week of), Kylee and I’s looks are casual enough to take you from work to play. For size reference we are both wearing XS’s in our heart embellished tops. If you aren’t sold on either of these looks or just want some more inspiration, see below! It’s the most wonderful time of the year and the question I get asked the most is always what is appropriate for holiday work parties. Well, it depends! Some companies go all out in which something along these lines might be more appropriate. My office always was a bit more casual when it came to holiday parties so I wanted to bring you two outfits that could work for a regular day at the office just a bit more festive 🙂

Both of these outfits would be appropriate for a work dinner party or casual party. My favorite way to “dress up” a sweater is to throw some party pants (or skirt) on with it! Easiest, most festive way to bring in some sequins, sparkle or festivity! See some more of my favorite party pants below.

And if you are looking for more options to wear with those party pants, don’t worry I’ve got you covered!

Lastly, if you are looking for gifts to give the boss lady, coworker, or employee in your life. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite items that are a working girl’s necessity.

Shein Bow Tie Dress

Dress: Shein (less than $25) | Shoes: Sam Edelman | Bag: Charming Charlie

Since I always get SO many questions about Shein, I wanted to remind all of you that I have an entire post on what you need to know before buying anything from their website. The post can be found here.

Long story short, the answer is YES- they are reputable. That being said, make sure you read my post before purchasing anything just so you know what you are getting yourself into. I have several pieces from Shein that I absolutely love. Most of you think of Shein when you are wanting trendy, weekend wear pieces, but I’m here to tell you that they are also great for work attire if you aren’t wanting to spend an arm and a leg. I have several dresses, pants and tops that I wear to work on a regular basis. My one tip for work wear since the quality is not the absolute best is to try to wash the garments as little as possible aka only when actually needed.

If you like this dress as much as I do, I encourage you to check out some of the other Shein dresses that I own or are on my wishlist for work below!

Dresses that Rock for Work & Play

Dress: Madewell | Sneakers: Johnston & Murphy | Purse: Johnston & Murphy | Sunglasses: Nordstrom

Over the years working in a corporate job, I’ve accumulated a LOT of work clothes. Something that I have come to find as of recently is that I have far too many items hanging in my closet that only serve one purpose. Either they are strictly for the office or strictly for the weekend (aka there is no justifying making it office appropriate). I don’t have a happy medium of outfits that could swing both ways which is both annoying and not efficient. The solution? I’ve started buying items that can serve more than one function. I’ve found that a pretty safe bet to know if it passes the test, is if you know it can take you from work to happy hour without having to swing by the house for an outfit change.

After going on the hunt for items that could fit both of these scenarios, I had a couple of takeaways I think anyone looking for work wear should do as well. First off, you can make almost any sleeveless, strapless or even backless dress work appropriate by throwing on a cardigan or blazer (I list a few favorites here). If you do not have at least a few staple color cardigans, you are doing it wrong! I have cream and black colored cardigans in my car at all times. You know for emergencies and what not. This way depending on my outfit, I always have a sure source of coverage or an Antarctica (because what office isn’t?) protector if need be.

Secondly, shoes can totally change the occasion of any outfit and make it more wearable. My favorite way to take a dress from work to drinks is to throw on a strappy pair of heels. Want to wear the same outfit for a more casual look? Throw on a pair of sneakers. As long as you have at least one pair each of pumps, strappy heels, sneakers and maybe a pair of flats. You are set!

Don’t forget that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is still going on and there are lots of items still in stock, including lots of work wear! The sale ends August 6th!
