With April showers gone (fingers crossed), and May flowers upon us, you can bet that means Spring fashion is about to be in full force. If you weren’t already craving pastel colors and skimpier clothing, you better start! There are a few trends this season that I thought I’d give a shoutout to and also cover why there is no reason to splurge on these when the exact same item is out there for considerably less!

Denim mini skirt: This reminds me of the Abercrombie/Hollister high school glory days. The major difference now is that we are actually talking about an appropriate length! Speaking of Abercrombie, I do have to give it to them for stepping up their game. I actually bought a few items (including this denim mini skirt) from there recently. Make sure to size down if you order!
Designer dupe sunglasses: Oversized, designer sunglasses are ALL the rage right now. The price tag is not so great. Thankfully I have found several dupes that I get compliments on all the time. I basically own every Karen Walker dupe out there. Heck, I could do an entire post just on that! Believe me, ditch the designer shades and save your money for wine (lord knows we all need more of it). And no one will be able to spot the difference!
One piece bathing suits: While not a new trend, you will definitely find more and more options this year. I love the semi-sexy contrast that a lot of retailers are bringing in this year. It kind of defeats the purpose of a one piece, but hey it’s called fashion for a reason right? It doesn’t have to make sense 🙂 Believe it or not, thanks to my friend Britt’s suggestion, my current favorite place to find affordable or designer dupe swimsuits is Amazon! Tassel earrings: These bad boys are back and they are bigger than ever this Spring. Every place you look has their own spin on tassel earrings and I probably have spent close to a small fortune on them. I’d say there are worse things to be addicted to but if you are going to spend the money on these, keep it at a minimum as this is a trend that won’t be around forever!
Bow slides/mules: This new trend is one of my favorites although it is also one that I don’t foresee sticking around forever. Because of this reason, I don’t see the reason in investing in such a trendy piece. Target currently has a great selection of designer dupes, at extremely affordable prices. I bought the bow slides in both the pink and black options because $25 was just too great of a deal to pass up! They also come in a striped or taupe option.

No sooner than Britt and I touched back down in Houston, we had already started planning our next getaway. It’s true what they say, traveling really is the only thing that you can buy that makes you richer. Well richer and fatter because lords knows you eat and drink WAY too much on vacation. Nonetheless, I think it’s safe to say that the travel bug has officially bit me so I might just be a fashion blogger turned travel blogger. I’ll keep you updated on that one 🙂

With it being the first day of Spring and vacation on the brain, I thought what better time to share a few fashion items that I am loving for vacation this year. If you are headed to the beach or somewhere tropical, Britt and I have partnered up with Elaine Turner to share with you what you can start stocking up on for those Spring vacations (besides the obvious necessities like swimsuits, sun hats and all the sunscreen in the world!).

1. Tassels

If you thought that tassels were big last year, think again. Tassels are making an appearance on just about anything and everything you can imagine, from earrings to clothing to bags. If you are worried about over accessorizing when it comes to tassels, I’m here to let you know that the limit does not exist. I wore my stacked bracelets with almost every single outfit on vacation and I’d be lying if I told you that I did not wear tassel earrings with every single outfit AND swimsuit. The obsession runs deep with this one.

2. Bright colors

As soon as the warmer weather hits, bright colors come out of hiding! This year especially orange, fuchsia, yellow, and lime green are huge. There are plenty of bright colored tops and dresses out there but if you aren’t into wearing such bold colors, the best way to add in color is through your accessories. The colorful tassels on my clutch went perfectly with several outfits that I brought with me on the trip. You can also bring in color to your outfit with your jewelry or shoes.

3. Cork accessories

I first fell in love with cork last year when Elaine Turner came out with this bag and it was the perfect accessory for my trip to Napa because wine has corks, duh 😉 I love that Elaine Turner has now designed an entire cork line that is the perfect festive touch for the beach or warmer weather. Since the color of cork is a beautiful nude color, the best part is that it goes with everything. I was almost surprised at how much I wore this bag and shoe combo on the trip. I’m serious when I say that they went with everything! A plus when you are trying to pack lightly!
