Here we go again talking about color! I know for some of you ladies out there that bringing color into your outfit can be a very sensitive topic but my hope from reading this blog is that you are able to slowly start adding color into your daily outfits. So why not start with the most colorful season of the year? Summer! Maybe not all at once and it’s probably going to take a few tries, but I promise you it will change your outlook on fashion and suddenly getting dressed in the morning doesn’t involve hiding behind those neutral shades. If you are normally sensitive to color or maybe you just have been looking for the perfect summer shades to start incorporating into your outfits, I have you covered.

Coral and turquoise are always my go-to colors for summer. Yes, there are several other colors that I love to wear, but these 2 just seem to stick every single Summer. You seriously can’t go wrong with either of these! While we are on the topic of summer colors, I want to point out that Summer is the time to bust out any bright color that your little heart desires. But if bright colors just really scare you, try blush instead of hot pink, periwinkle instead of turquoise, or lilac instead of bright purple. There is always a compromise when it comes to color. Start small and work your way to the top 🙂 The easiest way to start adding in color to your ensemble is to start with the accessories- jewelry, belts, and purses. Turquoise is a fun color to accessorize multiple outfits and goes with every neutral shade! Fringe is back in a big way this year and I have jumped on the bandwagon! I am still slowly introducing this trend into my closet because believe it or not I am a simple girl when it comes to fashion. I am somewhat of a minimalist so anything that is even a tad bit new makes me really think “ok, where exactly am I going to wear this?” or “how much wear will I actually get out of it?”. I think these are probably two questions most of us ladies ask ourselves when making clothing purchases. We want to know that we are not making a frivolous purchase that we are only going to wear one time and then throw in mom’s next garage sale. Well I am about to tell you all of the reasons why you need to throw those questions out the door and stock up on at least one good party dress because you never know when one of these nights might pop up.

  1. Ladies night- That’s right you don’t need a man to get dressed up and have a good time with your best gals. The more fun your outfit, the more fun the night in my book. Some of my favorite nights are those spent getting ready with all of my girlfriends and going out for a night on the town! Add some dancing and bad karaoke and it will feel just like college again 🙂
  2. Date night- We don’t get the excuse to get dressed up near enough, so take advantage that your guy wants to take you out to get fancied up! Wear heels and a bold red lip just because you can!
  3. Vacation- I don’t know about you guys but vacation seems to be when I get about 99% of my yearly photos because if you didn’t take a picture did it actually happen? I’m sure I speak for all of us that if pictures are being taken, I might as well put a little effort into my appearance! Since you will most likely be eating dinner out or have events that you will want to attend, vacation is the perfect time to whip out that little party dress that you’ve had nowhere else to wear! This little fringe number was perfect for my last trip to Costa Rica.
  4. Themed Party- To be honest when I bought this dress, it reminded me of a flapper girl! I told myself at the very least I could wear it to “Roarings 20s” party. As if I even attend themed parties on a normal basis that aren’t named Halloween. This is what I stoop to to convince myself I need a piece of clothing!! BUT there is always a chance guys. So if you see something that you could wear for multiple reasons (including the off the chance you get invited to a themed party) that’s bonus points in my book.
  5. Bachelorette party- I’m at that age right now that seriously all of my friends are getting married and bachelorette parties are the time to pull out all of your party attire. Go big or go home! I love excuses like this one to go all out and not have to worry if you are too overdressed. This fringe dress would be perfect for the bride to be.

There is nothing more frustrating than having an event pop up and having nothing to wear. Take my advice and have a back up plan. I promise you will thank me later. Here are some other party dresses that I’ve had my eye on lately.

How is it possible to feel even more exhausted after the weekend? Something is definitely not right about this! I blame it on trying to get too many things done, yet somehow feeling like I didn’t get anything accomplished. I was able to get a few things hung up around the house so that has got to count for something, right?! There is no time to slow down either since I am gearing up for almost 2 straight weeks out of town. Get details first by following along with me on Snapchat (@shelbiadams). Hint hint- I will be going somewhere that wine isn’t just served on Wednesdays and then off on another adventure to dip my toes in the sea.

Let me just start off saying that a girl can never own too much denim. It will forever be a classic in every woman’s closet. Nowadays it is even a fashion staple to wear multiple pieces of denim at once! The best part about denim is the comfort that comes along with it. When I was deciding what to wear this weekend for The Blog Societies’ brunch and then full day of running errands, comfort was a must. This cute, little denim dress is perfect for summer. I admit I have several denim dresses in my closet, but this one is my favorite for warm weather with it being sleeveless. To top off my comfortable, denim look and make it a bit more trendy, I wore my new wedges. I snagged this pair of beauties a couple weekends ago because the price was too good to be true. I had been coveting a trendy pair that was 10X the price and being on a budget, these were the next best option for me! I wore these all day Saturday and my feet survived, even better they could have gone even longer in them! Yall- This is a very rare occasion and should not be taken lightly. These shoes are only $20 and are selling out fast, so make sure you go buy them like NOW!

If you are looking for more inspiration and a bigger selection of denim dresses, here is another post that I did on denim dresses. Here are a few snapshots from brunch this weekend with a few of my favorite Houston bloggers!
