Where I Buy Affordable Denim

Abercrombie Denim

I try not to have favorites in the fashion industry since my job is to try everything once but there is one store that I constantly come back to for their quality, affordable denim and that’s Abercrombie. While I love a pair of designer denim just as much as the next person, I can honestly say I own more Abercrombie jeans than anything else in my closet. I know this for a fact because I just organized all of my jeans by designer and the Abercrombie stack had 3 times as many as any other brand!

Abercrombie has all of their jeans 50% off right now so I’m sharing a few of my favorite styles. For sizing reference, I am typically a 25 in Abercrombie jeans. They run true to size but if you are worried about the fit I would size up as I am a 24/25/0 in other brands and always wear a 25 here.

The Ultra High Rise Ankle Straight Jeans are my most worn pair of denim in my closet right now. They are so easy to throw on with a basic tee, bodysuit or casual top. These jeans do not have any stretch so if in between sizes, size up. They also come in several different washes and styles.

The Ultra High Rise Mom Jeans are another favorite of mine. This pair doesn’t have pockets on the back so they are very flattering on the rear. They also do not have any stretch so if you are in between sizes, size up! The belt is detachable and can be traded out. I am 5’4″ and in the regular length.

The Button Front High Rise Super Skinny Ankle Jeans are another favorite. These are my go to when I am going out because they have a ton of stretch and are very comfortable. My favorite way to wear them is with a bodysuit or lace cami. The jeans come in almost 20 different washes and styles if you aren’t interested in the black, distressed style.

If you have been following me for any length of time you know that the jumpsuit addiction runs deep with me. If I could live in them, I would. Unfortunately I don’t think it would be socially acceptable to wear jumpsuits everyday. I wore this denim one during fashion week and felt like I just stepped off the set of “That’s So 70’s” show.

This is one of those outfits that I put together and was instantly like, I don’t know where else I could pull something off like this other than fashion week but it’s probably one of my favorites to date! Between the denim overload, platform sneakers, fun earrings and pink shades, I think I’d fit right in during the 70’s.

So sometimes you buy the outfit that makes absolutely no sense but makes you feel like your best self because we all need those types of outfits. For me, this is that outfit. After all isn’t that what fashion is all about? Expressing yourself through clothes? I personally think this one is full of personality and spunk!

I’ve reworn these sneakers multiple times with different outfits and recently threw on a sweater over the denim jumpsuit to transition it into Fall. Nobody knew it was a jumpsuit since only the pants showed but I got plenty of compliments and of course had to tell everyone “it’s a jumpsuit”, to which they just gave me side eye. LOL. One of these days I’ll learn to just say thank you instead of always coming back with “it’s on sale”, “it’s from XYZ retailer”, “you can pair it with almost anything!”. #sorrryimnotsorry

Do you have any of those outfits that you put together and you are like “HELL YES” and then think to yourself, “now where the heck am I going to wear this?!”. I’d love to hear in the comments below!

Dressed Up Denim

Happy Monday everyone! This weekend consisted of enjoying the beautiful weather that hit Houston and soaking up every bit of sunshine. I actually got sunburned and was happy about it! This girl is definitely not upset about the warmer weather one bit if it means I can start working on my tan! Officially t-minus 52 days until Costa Rica and everyone knows you go to the beach to show off your tan not get a tan right??

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending Dede’s (from Dress Up Buttercup) event with Lavish Life Studio where she spoke about Pantone’s spring colors. I will have more on that topic later this week but I wanted to go ahead and share the outfit I wore to the event.

This denim dress is perfect for many different occasions because I can dress it up or down. For this particular event I paired it with these Sam Edelman heeled sandals for a more “dressed up” look. Unfortunately these gorgeous heels are unavailable but Sam Edelman has a new version on the market that I dare to say might be even cuter than the ones I own and you can find them here. If you have never owned a pair of Sam Edelman shoes, let me be the first to tell you that they are a little on the expensive side but the comfort of the better quality is well worth it. Also these heels are perfect because of the thick blocked heel. They provide plenty of ankle support and are the perfect height- not too high but not a “grandma heel”. For a more casual look I often wear this dress with my favorite Ked tennies or lace-up sandals.

Dress | Shoes | Purse | Watch | Bracelet | Earrings | Ring

This week kicks off a very busy week for me but I am so excited for all of it! As always my Mondays consist of watching the Bachelor with chipotle and a big glass of wine. I attempt to get some work/blogging done but I was not gifted with multi-tasking so that usually doesn’t work out too well. Tuesday I will be volunteering at the Food bank for our company’s “Week of Volunteering” and then meeting up with blogger bestie Margret (from Style The Girl). Wednesdays I attend bible study. Thursday I have blogger babe Brittany’s (from The Ashmores Blog) event and Friday and Saturday I will be attending my very first blogger conference. Follow along with me via snapchat (@shelbiadams) to get more details! Have a great week everyone!
