Distressed denim

Dear Bumble Boi

Dear Bumble Boi,

You know who you are and if you are reading this my hope isn’t to inflate your already inflated ego and it’s most certainly not because you deserve the time of day. It is because while I may never hear from you again, I in fact have something to say.

I’ve been perfectly fine by myself for some time now. I seemed to finally have life dialed in: my career, family, friends, the blog, a social life and I was happy and thriving all by myself! The only thing that seemed to be missing from my life was love and I had gone so long without someone filling that void, that it just seemed normal. Natural even. Until you came along and ruined it all.

The first night that I met you, 4 hours flew by like they were minutes. I don’t think I’ve laughed like that in ages and it felt good. Too good. I should have gone out with the girls that night after our date but this would be the first trap of yours that I fell into. I told myself to be guarded and I think I put up a good front. See you are a salesman and therefore a charmer so I know your type, but somehow I was outwitted from the start.

After that date you put effort in and I do have to give you that, but you and I both know why that is and it’s not because you were after my heart. Each time we hung out, the conversations that we had felt like we had known each other for years and while that seemed like a good thing at the time, maybe that was our problem all along. Maybe we skipped directly to the relationship stage without ever having dated at all.

See I know what we had was short lived but I’d be lying if I said that’s what made it all the more exhilarating and intense. I certainly questioned the sincerity behind each compliment and if our seemingly easy, deep conversations were too good to be true. I’d never had a guy communicate quite the way that you could and this intrigued me. I even joked that I had never met a guy that talked more than I did (and that is still true), but the way you analyzed me and each situation is what made me fall for you. While you might not have been great at a lot of things (like cooking a steak or being on time), you had a way of knowing exactly what I was thinking and what I wanted to say even before I did. If that’s not a super power in itself, I’m not sure what is. That and boy did you know how to make me laugh. Those 2 things are what unknowingly sealed the deal.

We went through some hard things that I could say played a factor in our demise but that would be a lie because it started long before that and we both know why. You see, I’m not sure what your intentions were at the beginning, but I now know that they weren’t pure. The flattery and talks about the future were just words to you with apparently no meaning behind them at all. I didn’t put too much thought into what you were saying at the time because I didn’t plan on falling for the charmer that I figured had charmed a million other girls.

You said that I was different and we had several inside jokes that made me believe this might be true. We would stay up late talking about anything and everything as if when we were together there was never enough time. We talked about meeting each other’s parents and what we wanted out of a relationship. You talked about the future as if I was a part of it. I like to think that I easily kept up my guard until that day that you were telling me about your family and sang me your grandpa’s favorite song. I looked at you and thought “this boy doesn’t lack confidence and that is for sure”. But it was more than that, it was the first time you let your guard down around me and somehow you instantly dropped mine too.

But like I said, I know your type and there is only one person that is ever going to satisfy you the most, and that’s you. So while you made it seem like I wasn’t just another girl, I was never going to be good enough for you because right now you only live to serve one person and that person is not a girl. I never stood a chance. So why did you do it? Why did you say the things you said to me if you didn’t plan to follow through? Why when things started to get tough did you immediately run away? See I knew you would hurt me from the beginning but I never expected it to be this way. I didn’t expect you to awaken feelings and then completely shut them out. I didn’t expect a coward that treats women like they are disposable. And I most certainly didn’t think that one day I would wake up to never hear from you ever again. No goodbye, no call, not even a text. So yea, I didn’t expect to regret having ever met you at all.

If you could use a vacation I would like you to raise your hand right now. I’m assuming all of you are raising your hands and I might as well be jumping up and down waving both because this girl needs the beach and a drank STAT! Well I’m excited to say that’s exactly where my happy butt will be in less than 2 days and I could not be more thrilled!

Britt, from Hello Honey blog, and I spontaneously decided a couple of weeks ago that we wanted an adult Spring Break adventure. Although we are certainly not above having a few too many drinks and dancing on the tables, we both were down for a more relaxing beach trip. Mexico was the obvious answer to our Spring Break wannabe blues. So without further ado, we are off to Puerto Vallarta in just 2 short days!

I have been snatching up all of the vacation wear that I can find. Nothing is more true when it comes to packing about suddenly needing 32 outfits for 3 days of vacation. #oops. If you are interested in getting a sneak peak of what I will be bringing along with me, I have listed everything here and also created a Spring Break wish list here.

This top is already packed in my ever growing suitcase and these jeans haven’t even made it in there yet because I wear them on a daily basis. There is a 99.9% chance I will even wear them on the plane. You know that pair of pants that very rarely gets washed because they are almost always on you? These are them and I have no shame whatsoever! As a side note, do make sure to size down in these as they run big.

I’d love for you to share along in our mini adult Spring Break adventures! Follow along with us on my Snapchat (shelbiadams) or Instagram as I post everything that we will be doing, where we are staying, and OF COURSE all of my outfits!

Boho Chic

Over the weekend I went out to see my parents and celebrate my dad’s birthday. One of my favorite things about going home is the food and boy did we have some good grub this weekend. Saturday started out with brunch at one of our favorite local places, Brick House Tavern. The weekends are where I get to try out new styles. I never want to be categorized to one fashion type. Most of the time you will see me rocking something pretty girlie but every once in awhile I like to change it up, as I’m sure you do too! This boho chic inspired attire is what I wore this weekend to brunch and it was so easy to throw on. You can’t beat an outfit that is comfortable and easy! Probably why this has been my go-to brunch attire lately. If you haven’t been able to tell by my Instagram, I like to brunch- it is my favorite meal of the day 🙂 If you are looking for some Houston brunch recommendations I have rounded up my favorites here.

Top (under $10) | Jeans (under $30) | Hat (similar) | Shoes (under $25) | Necklace (similar and under $5)

It just so happens that everything I am wearing is on major sale! Distressed denim is very “in” this season and this pair is super stretchy and comfortable. They almost beat putting leggings on and that’s saying a lot! Every time I wear distressed denim all I can think about is my dad saying “you actually paid good money to buy jeans that already have holes in them?”. Well yes dad as crazy as it is I sure did and when I am not at work they are one of my favorite pieces to put on!

All of my cute jewelry is from this month’s Rocksbox set. If you haven’t heard me boast about Rocksbox yet you are seriously missing out on the best thing since sliced bread. It is a monthly jewelry subscription that lets you try out jewelry for the month, send it back and then get all new pieces! You can get your first month free by using my code ITSALLCHICTOMEXOXO. Sign up here!

What does boho mean to you? When I think of boho I think hipster or music festival attire. I’m not exactly sure why but that’s what is engrained into my head. I would love to hear your thoughts on what pops into your head when you think of boho in the comments below!

Dressed Up Denim

Happy Monday everyone! This weekend consisted of enjoying the beautiful weather that hit Houston and soaking up every bit of sunshine. I actually got sunburned and was happy about it! This girl is definitely not upset about the warmer weather one bit if it means I can start working on my tan! Officially t-minus 52 days until Costa Rica and everyone knows you go to the beach to show off your tan not get a tan right??

Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending Dede’s (from Dress Up Buttercup) event with Lavish Life Studio where she spoke about Pantone’s spring colors. I will have more on that topic later this week but I wanted to go ahead and share the outfit I wore to the event.

This denim dress is perfect for many different occasions because I can dress it up or down. For this particular event I paired it with these Sam Edelman heeled sandals for a more “dressed up” look. Unfortunately these gorgeous heels are unavailable but Sam Edelman has a new version on the market that I dare to say might be even cuter than the ones I own and you can find them here. If you have never owned a pair of Sam Edelman shoes, let me be the first to tell you that they are a little on the expensive side but the comfort of the better quality is well worth it. Also these heels are perfect because of the thick blocked heel. They provide plenty of ankle support and are the perfect height- not too high but not a “grandma heel”. For a more casual look I often wear this dress with my favorite Ked tennies or lace-up sandals.

Dress | Shoes | Purse | Watch | Bracelet | Earrings | Ring

This week kicks off a very busy week for me but I am so excited for all of it! As always my Mondays consist of watching the Bachelor with chipotle and a big glass of wine. I attempt to get some work/blogging done but I was not gifted with multi-tasking so that usually doesn’t work out too well. Tuesday I will be volunteering at the Food bank for our company’s “Week of Volunteering” and then meeting up with blogger bestie Margret (from Style The Girl). Wednesdays I attend bible study. Thursday I have blogger babe Brittany’s (from The Ashmores Blog) event and Friday and Saturday I will be attending my very first blogger conference. Follow along with me via snapchat (@shelbiadams) to get more details! Have a great week everyone!

Top (similar): Charlotte Russe // Pants: American Eagle // Vest: Marshalls // Sandals [SOLD OUT]: Sam Edelman // Hat (similar): Urban Outfitters // Sunglasses: Oliver Peoples

When I am not working a full time job, my roommates and I like to go exploring! We found this cool graffiti building and obviously had to stop and snap a few pictures. This look was fun to put together since I mixed up a few seasonal trends. A little lace, distressed denim, army vest and some of the most comfortable heeled-sandals I have ever owned! Adding a vest and/or hat to a summer outfit can instantly transition your look into fall like I have done here. Until the weather starts actually feeling like fall down here in the south, you can find me getting as much use out of my late summer purchases as I absolutely can!
