I think all of those PSL’s (pumpkin spice latte’s) have officially gone to my head considering I am now dressing like a human pumpkin without even realizing it! Nonetheless, I have always been a fan off too much color and Fall colors are always so pretty paired together.

We spent the day with my dad’s side of the family in Dallas, TX. It was the first year that all 3 sisters were not kicked out of bed and loaded up at 6 in the morning to “beat the traffic”. Since Lindsey (my middle sis) moved to Chicago and Kacey (the youngest) moved to Austin, our holiday plans have changed quite a bit. While I am so happy that we are all going out into the world and becoming strong, independent women, it is so weird not living out every year traditions. I’m not complaining about the extra leg room in the car, but change is always something I’ve never been the best at!

I want to point out that it wouldn’t be a normal Thanksgiving Day road trip in the Adams’ household if papa Adams didn’t refuse to stop the car for any sort of food, drink or potty break. Thankfully we convinced him to stop at McDonalds to kick off our calorie filled day. The rest of the day was filled with LOTS of food, vegging out on the couch, visiting our family’s new house and playing Spinner.

Days like today remind me how thankful I am for a family that can give each other crap but can also make you belly laugh for hours on end. I am thankful for family reunions that make you appreciate your time apart that much more. I am thankful for little things such as wine, board games, and sweet potatoes.

I also want to take a moment to say how thankful I am for all of YOU! Without your constant support, I would not be able to do what I do. I am so thankful that the more this blog grows, the more you all grow with me. I am so thankful that we can connect over a shared interest of fashion, wine and having a good time! Every like, comment and sweet message from you is what keeps me going and for that I am eternally grateful!

I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving and if you are looking to beat the crowds at the shopping malls for Black Friday, please do not forget that I have an entire Black Friday Sale List to make all of your shopping needs easier 🙂

4 Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas

*Shop any of the above looks by clicking on the item in the above collage or the direct links below. *

We are getting so close to Thanksgiving that I wanted to share with you all a few different outfit ideas that are perfect for almost any type of occasion. Wether you plan to chill on the couch all day or are heading to the Cowboys game, these 4 different outfits are suited for the the gal that wants to be casual and cute!

Outfit 1

Headed somewhere chilly? This fur vest has your name written all over it. I love mixing textures and patterns so I highly suggest wearing a fun plaid or striped top under your fur vest. This outfit could also easily be worn with leggings just upsize in your top!

Outfit 2

You can’t go wrong with these basics especially when you just want to be comfortable for a long day of stuffing yourself with good food. I own this striped top and am probably going to buy it in a few more colors because it is THAT cozy! The puffer vest and riding boots polish off this look and add a little extra warmth.

Outfit 3

This is another super casual outfit choice that leaves plenty of room for seconds. These pants fit more like leggings and are the perfect amount of distressed. I own this vest and receive a million complements every time I wear it, not to mention I love how light weight that it is! This is perfect for those of you that are looking at 65-75 degree weather on turkey day!

Outfit 4

Looking for something a little nicer but is still going to leave room for that food baby you are already anticipating? This sweater dress comes in 3 colors and looks so cute with a blanket scarf and over the knee boots. If you are going somewhere a little warmer, ditch the blanket scarf and add booties instead.

On a related note, don’t forget to check out my Holiday Shop tab on the blog for all of your holiday needs including gift guides, items for the homeChristmas pajamas (make sure you stock up early because these ALWAYS go out of stock by beginning of December), and so much more. The favorites tab is also another option that has tons of options for Thanksgiving apparel as well as items that you can wear all through the season. These tabs are located at the top, left of your screen in the Holiday Shop section.

Be sure that you are checking back as I update and add to these tabs every single day. I will also have all of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales listed early here as well as some of my top picks. If you aren’t a fan of fighting the crowds on these two days but want to get ahead on your Christmas shopping or are just looking for some great deals, make sure you are following along on the blog and Instagram to get live updates on the best sales!

While suede for the cooler weather is nothing new, albeit you didn’t know how many shades of suede were actually out there to choose from! Retailers are making just about every clothing piece, head to toe, in some form of suede. I’ve had fun this season bringing suede into my every day attire as well as my work wardrobe for a little bit of unexpected spice!

Today’s ensemble is featuring two of my favorite suede shades, navy and gray. These navy suede leggings have become my best friend for this cool weather we’ve been getting. You know that I am all about the clothing items that are both fashionable and comfortable and these mark both of those boxes. I love them so much that I plan on getting these in a couple more colors such as these and these.  I love that I can wear them to work and out. When you find pieces like that, you stock up!

Since gray suede is a more neutral color, you will find many boots, jackets and purses in this color. I bought this pair of booties last year and this purse (which is an amazing dupe of the Chloe bag) this year. Both have become closet staples and go with absolutely everything.

To continue on with several other colors that I have seen popping up, I have rounded up my favorite shades of suede in 5 different color options. If you do not own anything suede yet, I highly suggest buying a jacket. You can never go wrong with a suede jacket and every girl needs one.

Happy Monday friends! Today I wanted to share a funny story with you that should surely make you chuckle. And let’s be honest, I think we could all use a little laugh to start off our Monday morning.

It all started when I went to my grandparents house last weekend. I think every single girl, especially those in their mid 20s, can attest to being hackled by their grandparents on the men in their life. Yes, plural. As if there was even just one!! Without fail, some of the first words out of my Poppi’s mouth are, “You got you a boyfriend?”. To which I always reply, “No Poppi.” And then the words I have heard a million times over… “You don’t?! When I was your age I had me 2 or 3 girlfriends”.

Then come Monday morning I received an email for a collaboration for “the special man in my life” and I. Spoiler alert: there is no special man! I was tempted to immediately respond with some pointed words about how insensitive they were. I shared the email with my coworker, whose response was “You can take me!”. My coworker is a girl. We then started coming up with all of the funny responses that would in turn make this person feel quite uncomfortable. What if I told them I wanted to bring my girlfriend? What if I accused them of harassment? Obviously I am kidding but the more I thought about it the more insensitive I realized that email was because what if something had happened to someone’s “special man in their life”? Why were they assuming that I had a man in my life in the first place? What if it was a woman instead!

To polish off the week I received yet another email collaboration for a guy in my life and myself. 2 in one week guys! I looked up at God and said “Very funny, that was a good one, God”. I’ve been so incredibly busy lately that I have completely brushed off men. I keep telling myself that if it is meant to be, then it will happen. This is something I firmly believe. But at the same time, I know that I need to be more open to meeting someone. I’ve got so set in my daily routine that I haven’t allowed for situations to arise where I would actually meet someone. I go to work every day and then come home and blog. There is the occasional blog event or dinner with a friend, but that is always all girls!

So all of this is to say, I think God was saying “Shelbi, take a hint!”. I know I don’t NEED a man in my life, but I also think that working 24/7 and not allowing for something or someone else to enter into my life is not the answer either. I know that I can do it all on my own, but at the end of the day I do want someone to share it all with. So God, thanks for the reminder 🙂

The good Lord made me a lot of things but what he did not bless me with was patience or how to be a morning person. What do these things have to do with effortless work attire? A LOT! Getting ready in the mornings for a girl is hard work and for those of us that aren’t morning people and have this thing called a J-O-B, the two don’t mix very well. Since I am one to snooze my alarm a few too many times and then get caught scrambling to make it out the door on time, the last thing I want to worry about (or have time for) is worrying about what to wear to work.

The easier and faster that I can get myself ready for work in the morning makes all of the difference, so I wanted to share my top 3 pieces of advice for effortless work attire that continue to be my saving grace for the never ending, hectic mornings.

1. Dresses are your best friend– I’ve said this once and I’ll say it again. Dresses are by far the easiest piece of clothing that a girl can wear. It’s a one and done, no hassle, no over-thinking-it kind of clothing. So there is about a 99% chance that on any given day, I will be wearing a dress. The comfier the better so what I look for is a soft material such as cotton or nylon. This one from Ellie Kai comes in 20 different patterns and is seriously one of the best feeling dresses I have ever put on! It’s made of nylon and spandex so it’s super stretchy and comfortable 🙂 Here are a few more that I am loving for work.

2.Stick to a couple pairs of neutral shoes– Call me crazy but to be honest heels are more comfortable to me than flats. Whether you are a heels or flats kind of girl, find a couple of good pairs. My black and brown pumps by far get the most use out of my entire closet because they go with everything. It makes it super simple in the morning when I need to pick out shoes because most of the time I am only choosing between 2 options so that means only 2 looks in the mirror and I’m off! I have Target brown pumps (under $30) and Sam Edelman black pumps. Here are a few more that I also own or have my eye on.

3.Dry Shampoo for the win– This one is not fashion related but it’s so important it is for sure in my top 3 pieces of advice. Really this one should go first because if I was stuck on a island and was only allowed to bring one thing, there is a good chance that my first thought would be to bring my Batiste dry shampoo. Obviously I am kidding but that stuff has saved me more time in the mornings than I can count! Bastiste– you the real MVP when it comes to bad hair days, hectic mornings, and adding a little extra volume. This stuff is the master mind of greasy hair or hair that is not willing to cooperate! I’ve also tried a lot of dry shampoos in my day and Batiste is the only one that I will use now because it is THAT good. Here are a few other products I use on the go.

I think it goes without saying that number 4 would be lots (and lots) of coffee! When in doubt, drink another cup! For all you Houston gals, here are the 10 best places to grab a cup of coffee! Now here is to hoping that your mornings be a lot more productive and less hectic then mine 🙂
