New Spring Arrivals from Walmart

We are headed to Napa, California this week and I stopped into Walmart to grab some last minute outfits. They have the cutest dresses right now for Spring and Summer. I was immediately attracted to the bold colors but if you are more of a neutral lover, there were plenty of options for you too! Mr. Chic even found a few pieces that we picked up as well. See and shop all of our finds below!

New Year, New Rear: Talking Fitness Fashion and Fitness Goals for 2020

FITNESS FASHION

Nordstrom Fitness FindsNordstrom Fitness Finds

Bra: Zella // Leggings: Free People // Shoes: Adidas

Around this time every year is when the gyms are flooded with people attempting to kick their booty into gear. I have always had a fickle relationship with the gym and working out mostly because of my hip issues but 2019 was the first year I stuck with something fitness related. I found pilates and have never loved a workout more. With my new found love for Pilates, comes wanting to buy all of the cute work out clothes which can get expensive really quick. Why in the world are stretchy clothes so dang expensive?!

Now is a great time to stock up on quality active wear for the year. Nordstrom is having their Half Yearly Sale and there are some great finds in there. Zella, Adidas, Sweaty Betty and Beach Riot are some of my favorite brands that Nordstrom carries and I’ve also rounded up my favorite sale finds to make it easy on you below. Don’t forget Nordstrom has free shipping and returns so if you aren’t positive on sizing, I suggest ordering two sizes and returning the other. Sizes tend to sell out quickly so this is the best way to ensure you get the item you are wanting!

FITNESS GOALS

I get questions a lot on what I do to stay so fit and I’d be lying if I said it’s from a strict workout or diet plan. I struggle with both daily. Quick backstory, I had two hip surgeries in 2017 and honestly hadn’t done any sort of real workout since college prior to my surgery. Then after, I had so many issues that I barely did any sort of physical exercise, let alone workout. But this past year has taught me how rewarding it feels to work towards something and to push your body and mind further than you thought it could go. There is a small victory and dare I say small adrenaline rush that happens with each workout. Going into 2020 I want to put a stronger focus on my overall health and mindset.

Over the past year I’ve learned to love working out for multiple reasons. Obviously I have enjoyed seeing the fruits of my labor physically but mentally it has done wonders for me too! Working from home, sometimes my only break out of the house for the day is going to workout so it’s kind of become an escape. Running has done the same. On days I’m stressed or just need to clear my head, running helps so much. It’s crazy how a year ago I thought people who did these things were just torturing themselves. I don’t know what clicked for me in 2020 but I’m so glad it did. If you haven’t found a workout that makes you feel this way yet, keep searching. Pilates has been my saving grace.

Physically, I’ve noticed the most extreme amount of definition in my arms, abs and butt which are honestly the places I have always been most concerned about toning. I have loved Pilates because it does not involve much cardio yet still gets your heart rate up while being a full body workout. It’s definitely not easy but you can make the workout as hard or as easy as you want it to be. For those that are local to Houston, I go to HIP Fitness which is a megareformer class.

So what are my goals for 2020? Honestly I’d be happy with continuing on the path that I was on in 2019 but my main goal of this year is to add in variability with my workouts so I can start working new muscle groups. I also want to start adding in cardio as I am severely slacking in this department. While I love Pilates and plan on continuing to take it in 2020, I want to widen my range of workouts. So here are my specific goals…

Take at least 3 classes a week.

Try a completely new class once a month.

Start mixing in cardio once a week. Whether that be a long walk, *short* run, spin class or cardio based workout.

Get a massage once a month. Again this goes back to overall health and mindset and I think can be included as a fitness goal as working out/stress can create tension and knots that make it harder to workout and perform other daily tasks.

Eat dinner at home at least 4 nights a week. Of those 4 nights, try a new recipe once a week.

Sweater Season with Walmart

With the cooler temps rolling in, we are officially in “sweater season”. That being said, not every sweater is created equal. I only want the coziest sweaters. Any sort of itchy sweaters simply won’t do! Walmart has been absolutely killing it lately on the affordable sweaters so I’m rounding up a bunch of their new arrivals under $25! For sizing reference, their sizing typically runs very true to size. I am usually an XS in other retailers and do a size small in Walmart tops. This works perfectly for sweaters since I typically like them a little oversized. If you also like your sweaters a little oversized, I suggest sizing up!

ACL Festival Outfits

Festival Fashion Outfits

I’ve been to a handful of music festivals in my life but never have I ever been to one when it was freezing cold outside. I attended Austin City Limits (ACL) for the second year and everything was just as amazing as year one minus the fact it was about 40 degrees colder! Typically fashion wise when it comes to music festivals, I would reach for all of the crochet, sheer and neon outfits but this festival called for a few more layers. I was happy to say that all of my outfits kept me warm and still fashionable for the weekend so if you are headed to a music festival where the temps aren’t in your favor, here is some outfit inspo below. If you are heading to a music festival where the temps are a little warmer, check out this postFestival Fashion Outfits

A big thank you to Honda for sponsoring my ACL shenanigans! I had the opportunity to test drive and ride around In the 2020 Honda Insight Hybrid for the weekend. Not only was it a chic and smooth ride, it had so many cool features. Since it was chilly during our stay, the seat heaters definitely came in handy! Beyond that, I also loved whenever you use your right blinker, a live video of the car’s right side comes on the center screen to make sure you don’t hit the curb. By the looks of my own wheels, this feature sold me immediately on this car. Other cool features included the Honda Sensing Technology that gently corrected the car if you went outside of your lane, a high tech navigation, quiet engine, spacious inside, and sleek exterior design. If you are in the market for a new car, I would definitely consider adding the Honda Insight to your list, especially if you are looking for a great value and fuel efficient car!

Walmart Fall Fashion Haul

Walmart Fall Haul

Walmart has done it again! So many great basics for Fall so I’m back with another try on session! For sizing reference, I am 5’4″, 115 pounds and typically wear an XS in tops and bottoms. Time and Tru is usually my favorite brand to shop at Walmart but lately I’ve found really good finds from Scoop and Dreamers By Debut too!

Avia Hoodie Tunic – If you get one thing, make it this! Meant to be a workout top but just as good if not better than a lot of the Aerie tunics. It has thumb holes and is long enough to wear with leggings. SO SOFT. Comes in several colors and runs true to size. Wearing a small.

Avia Leggings – I can’t find these exact leggings online but Avia makes several patterns and colors that I high recommend. They have the quality of several high end brands. They are high waisted and have tummy control. They run true to size. Wearing an XS.

Windbreaker plus sizes– This little windbreaker is water resistent and a cute athletic option. It has pockets and a drawstring around the waist to make it tighter. It runs small as it’s a junior’s item. Size up! It also comes in .

V-Neck Tunic Sweater – Size up if in between sizes as this sweater runs a little short. I’m in the XS but would have preferred the small! It has 3/4 sleeves and is very lightweight.

Walmart Fall Haul

Sherpa Jacket– These are just $10 and come in several color combos. They are junior sizes so they are a bit fitted. I suggest sizing up at least one sizes and if wanting it oversized, size up 2 sizes. It also comes in plus sizes.

Button Front Plaid – Grab this in ALL of the pattern combos it’s that good and will be great for layering purposes. It is very soft and flexible. It runs true to size. I’m in the size small.

Walmart Fall Haul

Boat Neck Top – Such a great work to weekend top! It’s stretchy and a good in between of a sweater and a tee. It runs on the bigger side so if in between sizes, size down. I’m wearing an XS.

Casual Moto Jacket – Great alternative to the popular suede BlankNYC moto jacket. This one is a cotton material, stretchy, and much less warm. It is incredibly comfortable and will be a great piece to wear now and later. Oh and it’s just $25! I got the small but would have preferred an XS.

Walmart Fall Haul

Sherpa Vest – $10 and comes in several colors! It feels much more expensive than $10. It is sherpa on the inside and out and has pockets too! It runs true to size. Wearing a small.

Sweater – This is one of those sweaters you are going to want to buy in ALL of the colors. It’s $11 and SO soft that it almost feels like cashmere. Would also be office appropriate. It runs a little oversized so if wanting for the office, size down, otherwise true to size. Wearing a small.

Walmart Fall Haul

Sherpa Cardigan – Ladies this is the softest thing EVER. Probably something I will only wear around the house but for $12 it is worth it. It comes in several colors. The oatmeal is probably my favorite color combo. It runs true to size. I’m wearing a small.

Walmart Fall Haul

Pajama Set – This set is fleece lined making it extremely soft and pretty warm. It has cuffs on the wrists and ankles so it won’t ride up in your sleep and functioning buttons. If runs big so if in between sizes, size down.
