Tis the season for Friendsgiving dinners and events! Unlike Thanksgiving where I like to dress more on the comfortable side, for Freindsgiving I take it as an excuse to dress up a little bit. Lately I have been loving a good midi skirt and sweater combo. Bonus points if the midi skirt has an elastic waist for second helpings and food babies! Both of the ones pictured in this post are 😉
I love that this midi skirt plus sweater combo can be professional enough for the office, cute enough for happy hour drinks, and even nice enough for family photos! It’s a winning combination all around. See all of the different styles and color combinations you can create below and then create your own Friendsgiving or Thanksgiving look!
Over the past couple of years Friendsgiving has become a major celebration. And let me just say it is 100% a celebration that I can get behind, especially when good food, goof friends and good wine come together! While Thanksgiving is usually reserved for the traditional family and close friends, Friendsgiving is celebrated before or after with friends you wouldn’t normally be able to spend Thanksgiving Day with. Long story short it’s just an excuse to stuff your face surrounded by the best company and I love every bit of it.
If you are wanting to try out any new recipes, get your holiday decor out early or just host a fun event for your friends, Friendsgiving is a great option! Since the host is already offering up their home, it is always nice to have a potluck dinner. This is always my favorite because I get to try everyone’s favorite, family traditional meals. My family is pretty much known for our corn casserole contributions every year, so that is always what I bring. It helps that it’s the easiest dish to make and is always a real crowd pleaser.
My girls and I had our first Friendsgiving of the season yesterday and with so many of you attending one yourselves, I wanted to share all of the details from what to wear, some decor inspiration and little things you can bring for the hostess to say thank you! Personally, when any type of buffet is involved you can find me in stretchy pants and an oversized sweater because your girl likes second… and thirds but even if you are anti leggings, I think you will find several cute outfit ideas below for Friendsgiving or Turkey Day!

HOSTESS GIFTS
You usually can’t go wrong contributing beer or a bottle of wine, but if you do want to bring your host a little something extra, here are some of my go to gift ideas!
Candle- Is there really any girl that doesn’t want to burn the Capri Blue candle 24/7? I have yet to meet one so this gift is always much appreciated.
Gifts for the home- Chances are whoever is hosting likes to entertain often, give them something that will come in handy for all of those parties!
Holiday Decor- Someone who likes to entertain often will never say no to more decor!
Game- If your group is the gaming type, bring something that will really get the party going like a fun board game.
*Thank you Nordstrom for sponsoring this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.*
I think all of those PSL’s (pumpkin spice latte’s) have officially gone to my head considering I am now dressing like a human pumpkin without even realizing it! Nonetheless, I have always been a fan off too much color and Fall colors are always so pretty paired together.
We spent the day with my dad’s side of the family in Dallas, TX. It was the first year that all 3 sisters were not kicked out of bed and loaded up at 6 in the morning to “beat the traffic”. Since Lindsey (my middle sis) moved to Chicago and Kacey (the youngest) moved to Austin, our holiday plans have changed quite a bit. While I am so happy that we are all going out into the world and becoming strong, independent women, it is so weird not living out every year traditions. I’m not complaining about the extra leg room in the car, but change is always something I’ve never been the best at!
I want to point out that it wouldn’t be a normal Thanksgiving Day road trip in the Adams’ household if papa Adams didn’t refuse to stop the car for any sort of food, drink or potty break. Thankfully we convinced him to stop at McDonalds to kick off our calorie filled day. The rest of the day was filled with LOTS of food, vegging out on the couch, visiting our family’s new house and playing Spinner.
Days like today remind me how thankful I am for a family that can give each other crap but can also make you belly laugh for hours on end. I am thankful for family reunions that make you appreciate your time apart that much more. I am thankful for little things such as wine, board games, and sweet potatoes.
I also want to take a moment to say how thankful I am for all of YOU! Without your constant support, I would not be able to do what I do. I am so thankful that the more this blog grows, the more you all grow with me. I am so thankful that we can connect over a shared interest of fashion, wine and having a good time! Every like, comment and sweet message from you is what keeps me going and for that I am eternally grateful!
I hope you all had a fabulous Thanksgiving and if you are looking to beat the crowds at the shopping malls for Black Friday, please do not forget that I have an entire Black Friday Sale Listto make all of your shopping needs easier 🙂
If you are stumped on what to wear to Thanksgiving this year, I’ve got you covered! It might have just started getting “colder” in Houston but I’ve been practicing for months now 🙂 While you may not have all of these items already in your closet, I hope these outfit ideas provide a source of inspiration to create something that you might not normally have thought to put together! Simply click on any of the product images below each picture to shop the items that I am wearing. I also suggest referencing this page come Black Friday as most of my outfits are expected to be on major sale if they aren’t already!
Don’t forget that I am already sharing Black Friday deals that are starting early! You can find all of them listed on my sale page! If any of you do recreate one of these outfits, don’t forget to send me a picture! I always love getting pictures from all of you showing me how you styled your outfit 🙂 Happy turkey day week y’all!
It’s finally Thanksgiving week and the count down is on for turkey, stuffing and NPD dessert. To this day I have no idea what NPD stands for but the mystery makes it that much more appealing. It’s pure goodness and that’s all that I require to know.
Every year my family wakes up early on Thanksgiving Day and heads to Dallas. My dad’s side of the family is from there and it is usually the one time of year that we get to see everyone. We all (I’m talking about 30 people or so) gather at my great aunt’s house and will spend all day here. Since I like to think of Thanksgiving as a marathon and not a sprint, I brace myself to eat all day long and veg out accordingly. I admittedly usually eat at least 3 meals and will continue to snack all day. No shame in my stuffing game 🙂
Thankfully I have a family that enjoys wine as much as I do so it makes dealing with watching football all day a little more bearable. About half of the fam will go to the Cowboys game. I have gone a few years now but it is usually a game time decision on who will go. Not going to lie, most of the time the couch wins out and I stay home to cuddle up next to a big glass of wine.
Once every one returns home, there is almost always a few games of poker. Ever since my sisters and I were little, my dad would each give us $20 to play. To this day, that tradition remains. I have yet to win, but I’m feeling a little lucky this year so I’ll keep you guys updated on any poker winnings.
The day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, we are the crazies that battle the mass crowds. Since this is really the first year that I will also be blogging while there, it should be very interesting. Since I find out about all of the sales early, I will be updating you guys first on the best sales out there so make sure to be checking the blog and my Instagram for updates.
I am only working 3 days this week so I am a happy girl. I hope all of you have a great week and enjoy your Thanksgiving break with your loved ones! If you have yet to decide what to wear, I shared 4 outfit ideas earlier this week that should be able to help you out! And if there is any other crazies out there that plan on battling the crowds for Black Friday, may the odds be ever in your favor 😉
