If you have been around my little space of the internet for some time, you may or may not know that on top of keeping up with the blog, there are other platforms that I create content for and post to regularly as well. All of these platforms would fall under the umbrella of social media. Today I thought I’d give you a breakdown of what I use each of them for so that you can pick and choose which to follow based on your interests and what works best for you!

Facebook

I actually have two Facebooks, one personal and one for my blog. I use Facebook to promote new blog posts, post photos that I take throughout the day, and share articles that I find inspiring. I like to think that Facebook is the all encompassing of blog posts, Instagram and personal photos, motivating or inspirational articles, as well as a place to find out about local events. If you are going to pick just one platform to follow, I suggest Facebook!

Instagram

I try not to pick favorites but I have to admit that Instagram usually wins out above everything else! If you are a visual person and like looking at photos rather than reading an entire blog post, then Instagram is for you. I share photos from recent blog posts, daily outfits that I think are worth sharing (aka when I actually look like I didn’t just roll out of bed), sale alerts, event coverage, vacation tidbits and really just lots and lots of clothes that you won’t find in a blog post! The best part about Instagram, is LikeToKnowIt. If you are not signed up for it your bank account is probably thanking you, but your closet certainly is not! Read all about how you can get outfit details of what I am wearing in my Instagram photos sent straight to your inbox after liking an Instagram picture here.

Pinterest

Pinterest has been around for awhile and you probably know it as your go-to site when you want to make some new fancy recipe, get crafty, or plan your next home renovation. Yes, all of that is true but did you know that it is also a great source for fashion inspiration as well? If you visit my Pinterest, I have boards that cover everything from blog photos to fashion inspiration and vacation hot spots to recipes that I am dying to try. For the most part, Pinterest is going to be everything that inspires me, not just all fashion. If you think we have similar taste in style then I bet you might find that we might also like the same recipes, work wear, vacation spots, beauty tips, crafts and so much more!

Snapchat

Snapchat qualifies as my second favorite social media tool. It’s where things get interesting and a little weird 🙂 Want to see what I do throughout the day? Snapchat is where it’s at. You will see everything from my outfit every morning to probably every single meal that I eat. Because where else can you take pictures of your daily Chick-fil-a meals and not be judged? Out of all of the other social media platforms, Snapchat is by far the most personal and gives you a look at what I do in my normal day life. It’s not staged and it’s not planned out unlike almost every other platform. It’s where I can be goofy and share tidbits of my day. I also love that I can interact with all of you via selfies and instant messaging. If we aren’t Snapchat friends-, go add me right now- my handle is shelbiadams!

Twitter

Last but certainly not least is Twitter, and to be honest it is my least favorite and I secretly wish it would die out. Harsh? Sorry Twitter, no hard feelings I hope. I do not keep up with Twitter as much as I should but it is a way to get blog updates, photos and random thoughts from people. If you are more about news and facts, Twitter is for you! Otherwise to me it seems like a dying breed.

So there you have it, a break down of all of the different social media platforms and how I use them! I hope that if we aren’t already following each other that we are now! I love getting to connect with each one of you outside of blogging and hopefully on a more personal level. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with all of the craziness that comes along with social media but the one good thing that it does is let me get to know all of you!

*Thank you Christian Paul Watches for making this post possible.*

Top: Shein | Pants: Nordstrom | Shoes: Similar | Clutch: Elaine Turner | Sunglasses: Charming Charlie | Watch: Charming Charlie | Earrings: Kendra Scott

I’ve had several people ask me my thoughts on Shein recently so I wanted to give my honest review of them. With so many of these type of budget friendly online boutiques from China, you want to know if you can trust them before you commit to purchasing. I will be the first to say that they are definitely hit or miss. I have received a couple of items that just did not work. The couple of times that this has happened to me, the item did not fit correctly (either sizing issues or just ill fitting). Good news is that Shein has a 30 day return policy though so any items that do not work out can be returned! While there have been a couple of times that items did not work out, I have honestly had more success than failure with them. Here are a few tips to consider before making a purchase from Shein to guarantee success for you too.

Know the quality isn’t always great

The reason the prices are so great is because the quality is not the best, most of the time that is. To my surprise the last 2 items that I ordered from them including this top, were amazing quality. Other items that I have received were not the best quality but were definitely wearable. As the saying goes, “You get what you pay for”. Although the quality may not be great, I love Shein for trendy pieces that I know won’t be in style forever and therefor do not wish to spend a ton of money.

Check your measurements

Sizing can be a little tricky because every piece runs a little differently. I would say from personal experience that items usually run big according to American sizing. It is very helpful when double checking sizing to know your measurements because Shein will list those out for you. I am normally a XS-S most places, but I always go off of the measurements with Shein instead of my normal sizing.

Do your research

Since Shein can be hit or miss, rely on other people and bloggers to find the hidden gems. What I do for almost any site like this is to stock their Instagram page’s tagged photos. Get a feel for popular items. Most bloggers, including myself, are not going to post “failure” items. They are going to post items that they love and brands that they trust! If you are debating on sizing, ask someone who has the item what the sizing is like! I do this ALL of the time! I ask other bloggers what size they ordered and if it runs big or small. Also make sure to read the reviews for every item. Some items will not have any, but others will give honest reviews, including if the quality is not great or if you should size up or down.

So all of this is to say that yes, they are a legit website but I do want to give you a fair warning of what you are getting yourself into. I will continue to buy from them and it really is a great option for fashionistas on a budget, especially for those trendy pieces that aren’t meant to last you forever.

Top: Chic Wish | Skirt: Chic Wish | Shoes: Sam Edelman | Rind: Pandora | Earrings: Kate Spade

I know I’ve said this before and I’m calling it now that there is a good chance that I might say this again, but I think this might be my favorite outfit to date! One of my favorite parts about blogging is trying out new fashion trends and figuring out what works and what doesn’t. Midi length is just what it sounds like, it is short for midiskirt and ends at the middle of the calf.

Today I am trying out the midi trend. I tried the midi trend in a dress version here, but had yet to find a skirt that I felt like I could really rock. That was until I found this playful, flamingo number. The skirt is the hard part of the outfit, so I suggest finding your skirt first and going from there. Chic Wish has the best selection of fun midi skirts to choose from that I have seen. I had my eye on this one and this one before finally deciding on my little flamingo friend.

Now for your top. The way I see it is you have 3 options. 1) Crop top 2) Bodysuit 3) Blouse. If you decide to go the crop top route like I did, be sure to pick one that will compliment the skirt. Since my skirt was a bit on the nicer side, I picked a crop top that was equally as nice and would not show too much midriff. Bodysuits are also a great option to pair with poofy midi skirts, like this one, because they do not add any extra bulk and always look perfectly smooth and tucked in. Lastly, if you are looking to wear your midi skirt to work or a more professional style setting, you might want to wear a top that isn’t too tight or won’t show your tummy. A blouse that is not too flowy when it is tucked in will work best so that you don’t have too much volume up top. Since your skirt is most likely going to be the statement piece of this outfit, your best bet is going to be a more simple top. Your outfit should always be about balance so if the skirt is patterned, try a solid top, for a flowy skirt, try a more fitted top, etc.

Find yourself a cute pair of colored heels and your look is topped off! I had been on the hunt for some pink heels well since forever so when these all but fell into my lap last week (along with 6 other pairs), I couldn’t say no. That tends to be a reoccurring problem for me these days…. Not being able to say no to shoes. There are worse problems to have though right?! And every girl needs (yes, needs) a pair of pink heels. I have worn them at least 3 times since last week so that’s proof right there!

Don’t forget to enter the $1320 Nordstrom gift card giveaway in my last post. You can find all of the details here. Have a great week, friends!

Top: Similar | Jeans: Nordstrom | Shoes: Target | Purse: Charming Charlie | Earrings: Charming Charlie | Watch: Charming Charlie

I have been saying all Summer long that I wanted to make a Summer bucket list like the good ol’ days and actually check everything off of it. All through high school, I would write down everything I wanted to do that Summer and then I carried that list around everywhere with me so that I could check off every last item. To this day I have kept every Summer bucket list that I have ever made. Boy are those list gold now looking back at all of the crazy shenanigans I used to write down.

While my list may no longer include sneaking out (sorry Mom!) and spin the bottle, I still love putting fun and adventurous items on my list to force myself out of my usual, day-to-day schedule! I might be a little late to the game this Summer, but I still plan on marking everything off of the list. And yes, I admit I might have put a couple on there that I already completed to help give myself a head start 😉

  1. Day trip to Galveston for a beach day
  2. Try the new Steel City Pops for a refreshing Summer sweet treat!
  3. Finish decorating my bedroom and do an unveiling on the blog… FINALLY
  4. Have a pool party with all of the best Summer pool floats
  5. Splurge on a pair of everyday sunglasses. I’m thinking about these.
  6. Buy a new, bright lipstick. I have my eyes set on this or this.
  7. Spend a Saturday morning searching for buried treasure at garage sales
  8. Buy a new swim suit. P.S.- if you didn’t already know, Victoria Secret’s clothing line (including swim suits) is going out of business and everything is 40% off!
  9. Clean out the closet- y’all stay tuned on Instagram because I plan on selling all of my gently used clothes/shoes/bags there!
  10. Deep clean the house- we’ve been living here for close to a year and it is WAY overdue.
  11. Visit a local farmer’s market
  12. Explore new Houston brunch spots and add some new places to the blog’s Houston Guide
  13. Karaoke with the girls… because I have yet to EVER do this. Who wants to join me for ladies night?!
  14. Go to a Houston Astros game
  15. Try one of the 1,000 Pinterest recipes that I pin and never actually try!
  16. Have a picnic at the park
  17. Roller blade the new bike trail through The Heights
  18. Float the Guadalupe River
  19. Stargaze on a roof
  20. Go to a drive-in movie

Now on to the part where you could win a $1320 gift card to Nordstrom! Yes, you read that right! All you have to do is enter below. The more times you enter, the better your chances! Good luck 🙂
