If you’ve seen my Instagram account lately, you’ve 100% seen my obsession with hair scarves. They are a God send for dirty hair days or just sprucing up an otherwise simple outfit. My favorite places to buy quality hair scarves are Madewell, Free People and Anthropologie. If you are looking for cheaper options, I suggest trying your local Walmart or Target as I will periodically find them there as well!
A couple pieces of advice: firstly, make sure you look for ones that are silk (faux silk works too!) as these are going to work best. They are easier to manipulate, stay put better, and overall look nicer! Secondly, don’t pay too much of attention to the pattern since once it is rolled up, you will barely see it! Instead, look at the overall colors instead. See below for a round up of some of my favorites!
Summer time fruit madness is in full effect! Lemons and watermelons are my current fruit crushes but you will find almost every fruit under the sun plastered on swimsuits, shorts, tank tops and everything else this season. I can’t stop wearing this $10 watermelon tee(size up!) under all of my overalls and own both of these $15 pool floats (here and here).
Although the official Pantone color of the year is technically purple, yellow is in full force in just about every store you see. I didn’t even realize how much I was drawn to this color until a recent online order showed up and i’m not kidding when I say the entire box was yellow! I was determined I couldn’t pull off this particular color, but you’d be surprised what a little bit of self tanner does for a yellow outfit and frankly for the soul as well 😉 This is the self tanner I’ve been using and loving so far! I get the dark shade, apply it with a mitt, sleep with it on, and wash it off in the morning!
If you aren’t convinced that you can rock yellow quite yet, adding in a little color with your accessories is a good place to start. Especially if you are a neutral girl, these earrings or cute espadrilles (true to size) would instantly take your muted outfit to Spring time cutie! See below for more accessories and yellow crushes.
After getting several requests from you ladies on where to find straw bags under $50, I thought it was about time to share the good news. It is actually easier than you think to find an on trend bag on a budget. I have not tried any of these bags out myself yet but all of the ones that I found have amazing reviews (make sure you read them too!). This trend was around last year and I honestly don’t see it going anywhere anytime soon. So if you’ve had your eye on one but don’t want to fork out an arm and leg, here are some for all budgets!
Overalls have come full circle as do most trends. My guess is that most of you probably haven’t worn them since you were under the age of 5 so the thought of rocking them now feels either childish or down right crazy. Just like I swore I’d never wear skinny jeans (spoiler alert: now that’s all I own), I swore the overall trend was definitely not for me. Here I am eating my words yet again because I’m officially head over heels for these overalls.
The Madewell overalls that I’m wearing are by far the most popular pair of overalls out there right now. They are a pretty penny but after trying out several pairs of lower priced options, none compared to the Madewell pair in terms of quality and fit. To be completely transparent I also only tried three other pairs- this Old Navy pair (runs true to size), this American Eagle pair (size up 2 sizes), and this Francesca’s pair (true to size). Don’t get me wrong, all are decent alternatives but after experiencing the Madewell ones there was just no turning back. So if you don’t want to even be tempted with the price tag, do not even try them on because you will inevitably buy them and question everything you once stood for.
What I love about these overalls is the amount of stretch, the high waist, large pockets and large bib structure in the back. You will find that a lot of overalls have more of a suspender look in the back which is not the most flattering and usually results in gaping. They do fit true to size (i’m wearing an XS) and have adjustable straps. If you want to try out this trend as well, I’ve rounded up my favorites at all price points!
