Valentine’s Day is less than a month away ladies! There are only a few times a year where we really have an excuse to get fancied up, throw on a red lip and a pair of heels so take full advantage of it! Order an outfit that makes you feel like a million bucks, grab your guy or your girls, and celebrate!
I’m sharing mostly dressier, date night outfit inspiration in the try on session below but whatever your holiday might look like, there’s an outfit for you! And if you aren’t the red and pink type, you know my forever go-to for a night out is a pair of jeans, a little black top and a strappy heel. And if you aren’t feeling one of the dresses from my try on, see below for plenty more casual options, festive loungewear, and some related blog posts from year’s past especially if you are single this Valentine’s Day!
Y’all know how much I love Abercrombie and their new arrival section right now is SO good! I love that Abercrombie is really starting to incorporate a larger selection than they ever have. Meaning that they have options for all occasions and all ages. Whether you are heading on travels, date night, lounging around the house or working out, they really do have something for everyone. Their current campaign is “96 hours in Abercrombie” and when I thought about what 96 Hours in Houston (my city!) would look like, it recently has been a lot of date nights believe it or not! With it coincidentally being 96 degrees in Houston, date nights usually consist of little dresses because it’s just too darn hot for anything else so I’m sharing a few of my favorites.
The dress above is one of those little dresses that could take you from day to night and would certainly be perfect for beach vacation pictures. It’s a linen blend, stretchy on top, has pockets and runs true to size!
Would you have guessed that my top is actually a bathing suit? One of my favorite Summer tricks is to use a one piece bathing suit as a bodysuit! So after a day at the pool or beach, I just throw on a skirt like this one and head to dinner! If you wanted to pair the skirt with a real bodysuit, Abercrombie has some really good ones right now! Find them here.
This little mini dress is so cute I bought it twice! It comes in 5 colors and is the perfect fun and flirty dress. Dress it up for date night with a leather jacket and a pair of block heels. It does run on the smaller/shorter side so I suggest sizing up and getting the tall length if you are taller than 5″5′.
Did I mention this dress has pockets? I mean if you weren’t already sold…

As we start gearing up for Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the holidays, so many retailers are doing the exact same. What you will find is that they will put “older” clothing on major discount to get ready for all of the new holiday promotional items. Good news for all of us because a lot of the items that they put on serious discount are almost brand new items! Nordstrom is having 40% off of almost all of your favorite Fall items. If you see something in the collage above, feel free to shop it by directly clicking on the image. I have also rounded up all of my favorite Fall essentials under $50 from the sale below. I’d love to hear which is your favorite look that I created 🙂 Happy shopping friends!
For those of us riding the single train this Valentine’s Day, I think I speak for all of us when I say that it’s not a holiday we care to give too much recognition to. Being single on the day of love is like a huge freaking reminder that everyone else (or so it seems) is happily in a relationship, engaged, or married. As if your grandmother dropping not so subtle hints about your relationship status wasn’t enough, stomaching all of the mushy-gushy romance on this day can be rough to say the least.
This will be my first Valentine’s Day alone in close to 8 years and I’m not sure how I feel about it. On one hand I am pretty excited that I am not having to buy a Valentine’s Day gift for anyone besides myself. And you can bet that I WILL be buying myself something because I have somehow convinced myself that that is how the world should work. My logic goes a little something like this: if I were in a relationship, I would be spending a hefty amount of mula on the one I love. Since I would have spent the money anyway, I might as well spend it on someone that I love just as much… MUAH! So thank you nonexistent boyfriend for that!
So to all of my single ladies out there, instead of spending February 14th feeling sorry for ourselves and our lack of romance, I say we celebrate this special time in our lives! On a day that makes us question “Why am I still single?”, “What’s wrong with me?”, “Will I die alone?”, I’m here to tell you that you are exactly where you are supposed to be and you should celebrate the fact that some day you will look back on this time alone and wish you would have lived it up a little more. So here are a few ways stay happy this love day and to be your own damn Valentine.
Stay off of social media– As if most days besides Valentine’s Day weren’t big enough reminders of just how single you are, social media will surely do the trick. You already know that everyone and their mother will be showing off on social media of just how great their significant other is. Do yourself a huge favor and just stay off of your phone for the day. Nobody wants to see the thousands of Instagrams showing off expensive gifts, romantic gestures, and cliche acts of love (as cute as they might be).
Don’t “play hermit”– It might be easy to burry yourself into a hole of self pity complete with Netflix while you drown your tears into a tub of ice cream but don’t succumb to this ladies! The world is not completely out to get you on this day so embrace being single and know you are not alone!
Splurge on something for yourself– Take the money you would have spent on a Valentine”s Day present for your ex and buy yourself something really nice. Maybe it’s a couple boxes of chocolate (you do you girl) or maybe it’s a new bag. Just do it!
Buy yourself flowers– I’m a big proponent that you should always buy yourself flowers. They don’t have to be a romantic gesture from a guy. For something that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg but brings instant happiness, seems like a no brainer to buy them for yourself!
Pamper yourself– Ain’t nobody going to love you better than you can love yourself! Just like you would have spoiled that special Valentine, you deserve a little loving too! My personal favorite pampering sesh goes a little something like this: a bubble bath, face mask, candles and BIG glass of wine. Don’t mind if I do!
Cheers to all of the single ladies out there this Valentine’s Day and may you be your own best damn Valentine out there.
This Valentine’s Day whether you are single, taken or in a “complicated relationship”, my girlfriends and I have got you covered on what you can wear, no matter the occasion. These looks will take you from a fun night out with your girls to a date night with your guy.
My best piece of advice when searching for something to wear is to not feel like you have to stick to just red or pink. Also remember that even if you opt to not wear the traditional colors, that you can always accessorize with those colors instead!
