Whenever I was still working in the corporate world I think I googled “creative office style” more times than I could count. I was sick of wearing the same thing on rotation every week and felt like none of my work clothes were very “cute” or “me”. One source of inspiration that I continually went back to was Mary Orton from the Memorandum blog. Working ladies, she is GOALS. Her outfits were always way out of my price range but I always had fun trying to recreate her looks for 1/20th of the cost she paid:)

If you are in a work clothes rut and looking for a fun piece to add into your rotation, try a midi skirt! I personally love the idea of midi skirts in the office because they are an appropriate length while still being feminine and cute! It’s a stand out piece that everyone is sure to recognize which is one positive. The other is that it’s longer than a pencil skirt which means you don’t have to shave as high LOL. The less effort to get ready in the mornings, the better. You feel me?

I rounded up several other midi skirts that are appropriate for the office and sure to be a staple in your closet. The great thing about all of these is that you could dress them down for the weekend as well. My favorite way to style a midi skirt lately is with a graphic tee and sneakers!

When the weather starts to change so do my favorite pieces in my closet. Instead of gravitating towards my light weight pencil skirts and dress pants for work, it’s usually suede or corduroy for this girl. I picked up this skirt recently and have had so much fun styling it different ways for work.

Depending on how laid back your office is, another way to style this skirt would be with a pair of riding boots and a button down. Honestly the possibilities are endless which is a total selling point when you are purchasing an item. As long as I can think of at least 2-3 outfits that I know that I can make with the item, I can justify buying it.

Speaking of multiple functionality pieces, this sweater that you saw me wearing in my first styled look is the perfect length as it is long enough to wear with leggings and can easily be dressed up or down! My personal favorite way to style sweaters for the office is layered with a button down so that the collar and sleeve detail add in something unexpected. The star detail on this one adds in something special for the holidays that I couldn’t pass up!

While I wanted to share how to style a corduroy skirt, both of these looks could also be paired with corduroy pants as well. I have corduroy pants in grey, olive, burgundy and black. I’ve built quite the collection but I just find them so much more comfortable than slacks! If you are looking to add some corduroy into your work wear, here are a few other options that I am loving!

I am keeping it short and sweet today on account that I am battling a cold and this Benadryl is going to make me start dozing off. So if you see a few grammatical errors or something that doesn’t make any sense, I chalk it up to the drugs 😉

ChicwIsh is a brand that I have talked about multiple times on the blog, but in case you are new around here or have yet to hear about them, Chicwish is an online boutique with some of the cutest, on trend pieces! Almost all of my recent event wear has come from them. They are currently running their end of the year sale so on top of everything being 15% off, you get to take an additional 20% off with code NYE20! Both my top and skirt are from there and with the discounted pricing, each one is only $36! I am wearing a size extra small in the skirt and it is pretty darn skimpy so if you are in between sizes I would suggest sizing up. If skimpy is what you are going for this New Year’s Eve (hey, no judgement here!), than you know what to do!

I love the lace-up detail of the skirt and since I was already going trend crazy with the skirt, another bell sleeve top seemed like the perfect combo. If you have checked my blog or Instagram lately than you know that I’ve been wearing bell sleeves like they are going out of style. So much so I still have a few more to share with you guys! I actually picked up a bell sleeve dress today and had to rationalize with myself for a good 10 minutes why I did NOT need yet another bell sleeve piece of clothing.

If you have yet to decide what you are wearing for New Year’s Eve, there is still time to snag something and have it here by the big day if you order today! I’ve rounded up a few of my other favorite looks from Chicwish below and have an entire page of outfit inspiration here as well.

*I just want to mention that this post is NOT sponsored in any way. I rave about Chicwish all of the time so I wanted to highlight some of their great pieces for the New Year!*

Now that the countdown to Christmas is in the single digits, all of us last minute shoppers are kicking it into gear. You would think that with all of these gift guides and holiday inspiration that I would have my Christmas shopping done but sadly that is not the case. It wouldn’t be Christmas without a 24th hour shopping trip on Christmas Eve for this girl 😉

Christmas shopping is one of my favorite times of the year so I usually try to make an entire day out of it. So while not all of my shopping is done, I was able to knock a few people off of my list this weekend at River Oaks Shopping Center. I specifically love going here because it truly is a one stop shop for everyone on my list. See some of my favorite places to shop for each person below.

The corporate gal: Ann Taylor, White House|Black Market, GAP

The active one: RYDE, Evolve Fitness Studio, Pure Barre

For Mom: Talbots, J. McLaughlin, Sur la Table, Chico’s

For Dad: Sunglass Hut, Jos A. Bank, Barnes & Noble, Luke’s Locker, V’s Barbershop

Spa gifts: Nail-tique, International Derma Spa, Full Blown Dry Bar

The food lover: Americas, Brasserie 19, Macaroon by Patisse, La Griglia Restaurant

Depending on how successful shopping goes, I almost always reward myself with California Pizza Kitchen and/or Nail-tique for a pampering session. After all the giving season isn’t just for everyone else. You deserve a little pampering too!

So if you are anything like me and have yet to finish up your holiday shopping, River Oaks Shopping Center is a great alternative to battling the massive crowds elsewhere. Cheers to checking everyone off of your list and Merry Christmas, friends!

*Thank you River Oaks Shopping Center for sponsoring this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.*
