Let’s Deck The Halls: 50+ Affordable Holiday Decor Finds

I can’t believe it’s already time to start thinking about the holidays! I won’t lie I’ve already put up my Christmas tree and started decking the halls. When it comes to home decorating do you tend to take a traditional or non traditional approach? Over the years I’ve flip flopped back and forth. For example this year I love all of the buffalo plaid. I incorporated it for Fall and am now bringing it into the holiday season as well. My holiday color inspiration this year is white, gold and black. I ordered this 7.5 flocked Christmas tree and a quite a few other pieces that I can’t wait to show you next week when I bring my vision to life!

My favorite places to shop for budget friendly home decor are always TargetWalmartTJ Maxx and Amazon. They have affordable finds that last me a few season’s worth so that way if I want to change it up one year, I didn’t invest too much money into a theme that isn’t to my liking anymore. Most finds from these places are under $20, if not less. TJ Maxx has free shipping days every so often where I like to stock up on all of the things.

Tuesday Trend: Fall Prints

It’s been a hot minute since I did a Tuesday Trends post but your girl is bringing them back because they are some of my favs! Is it weird that making these collages is almost therapeutic to me?! I bet most bloggers would tell you i’m crazy for saying that because they take hours!

While none of these are “new” trends by any means, they are certainly in full force this season! I went from being a camo hater to lover in 0.2 seconds. It’s funny how we see trends pop up and tell ourselves “you’ll never catch me in that” and then end up eating our words later on. I used to think camo was just for rednecks and hunting season but somehow the fashion industry has turned it into arguably this season’s hottest print. Camo silk scarves have become a thing y’all and there ain’t nothing redneck about that. I slowly started my camo obsession with this pair of Levi’s (pictured below) and it’s only gone crazy from there.

Now when it comes to the plaid epidemic, I actually had no idea how popular glen plaid (or that that was the name of it for that matter) was until fashion week when every single blogger showed up in a plaid blazer! And here I was thinking I was rocking a very unique blazer.. WRONG! While glen plaid blazers are all the rage right now, you will find everything from sock booties to pant suits. My favorite blazer that I have found is this one from Express (pictured below). If you would like a less expensive option, this one from Target is very similar!

And arguably my favorite trend this season because it’s usually so hard to find is leopard! I’ve always been a fan of leopard accessories, like my leopard pumps for the office and leopard scarf to wear with tunics and over the knee boots, but I love that you can now find leopard everything. This leopard shirt has been a top seller for the blog (runs true to size). I’ve dressed it down for the weekend and up for the office. Leopard is definitely a print that is timeless and classy which makes it perfect for all occasions, including the office.

Fall Prints

If you want to try out any of these trends I’ve round up a ton at all different price points and several are on sale right now. Pink Lily Boutique has a lot of camo and leopard cuteness right now (some linked below) and I have a 15% discount code for you ladies – SHELBI15! Another place worth checking out is Express because they have a TON of camo and are currently having a sale!

Now that the countdown to Christmas is in the single digits, all of us last minute shoppers are kicking it into gear. You would think that with all of these gift guides and holiday inspiration that I would have my Christmas shopping done but sadly that is not the case. It wouldn’t be Christmas without a 24th hour shopping trip on Christmas Eve for this girl 😉

Christmas shopping is one of my favorite times of the year so I usually try to make an entire day out of it. So while not all of my shopping is done, I was able to knock a few people off of my list this weekend at River Oaks Shopping Center. I specifically love going here because it truly is a one stop shop for everyone on my list. See some of my favorite places to shop for each person below.

The corporate gal: Ann Taylor, White House|Black Market, GAP

The active one: RYDE, Evolve Fitness Studio, Pure Barre

For Mom: Talbots, J. McLaughlin, Sur la Table, Chico’s

For Dad: Sunglass Hut, Jos A. Bank, Barnes & Noble, Luke’s Locker, V’s Barbershop

Spa gifts: Nail-tique, International Derma Spa, Full Blown Dry Bar

The food lover: Americas, Brasserie 19, Macaroon by Patisse, La Griglia Restaurant

Depending on how successful shopping goes, I almost always reward myself with California Pizza Kitchen and/or Nail-tique for a pampering session. After all the giving season isn’t just for everyone else. You deserve a little pampering too!

So if you are anything like me and have yet to finish up your holiday shopping, River Oaks Shopping Center is a great alternative to battling the massive crowds elsewhere. Cheers to checking everyone off of your list and Merry Christmas, friends!

*Thank you River Oaks Shopping Center for sponsoring this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.*

Since we are headed to a pajama party this evening and I live in Christmas pajamas this time of year, this post seemed too fitting! Yesterday, Britt (she blogs at Hello Honey), came over to my parent’s house for a girls day complete with cozying up by the fireplace and making a fresh batch of mama’s homemade hot chocolate. Don’t worry the secret recipe is on the blog here!

Buffalo plaid is making it’s big debut this season which I love because it is so festive for the holidays. I’m ashamed to say how many pieces of buffalo plaid I have recently bought, but you can be assured that almost all of them are pajamas! See below for some of my favorites.

Tried and true plaid, especially in holiday festive colors, will always be a staple and one of my personal favorites. It’s easy to find this all year round but I always tend to stock up around the holidays when it is most abundant.

If you are in search of the perfect Christmas pajamas, look no further. I have an entire page with the best options on the internet here. When in doubt of what to give for Christmas, pajamas and cozy gifts are always a good idea. I don’t know a single person that doesn’t like to receive pajamas as gifts. Probably because I wouldn’t be friends with those type of crazies 😉

GIVEAWAY

Continuing on with the 5th day of Christmas Giveaways, I’ve partnered up with Britt and LAKE Pajamas to give one lucky reader a set of pajamas and a Christmas mug. Follow the below directions to enter.

Scarf-vest.

Happy hump day everyone! I can’t believe we are already in our second week of the New Year! Anyone else already struggling to stay on track with those New Year’s resolutions? I have yet to start my biggest one, using my planner! My sister gave me the cutest one for Christmas and I have been studying it, planning how I am going to attack using it, and trying to organize everything I already have planned for the year. But I haven’t actually written a single thing down yet. It sounds insane I know! It’s almost too pretty to write in… just almost.

This outfit was inspired by a trend that I had seen pop up and was dying to try- blanket scarf turned vest! I find it funny that last season I had all of these blanket scarves but really didn’t wear them because I didn’t know how. Now this season there are a million in one ways to wear them so I have had fun pulling them all out of the back of my closet and giving them a second shot. Purple is hands down my favorite color and for some crazy reason it does not exist in my wardrobe! Since winter makes it a little more difficult to add color in to your outfit, being that you don’t have all of the bright options that summer brings, I try to add pops of color whenever I can. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE a good winter neutrals look and you can find me wearing this sweater dress, leggings and boots combo all day everyday, but adding color just brightens up an outfit.

This easy make shift scarf vest is the easiest to pull off. If you already have a scarf simply hang it around your neck and belt it around your stomach. I used a pretty small belt so that it would create the cinched look i was going for. Also my scarf was a pretty big size so i folded it in half length wise before draping around my neck.

Can we talk about these boots for a minute?! If a pair of shoes has ever made me feel like a million bucks, these are them! They look so sleek and chic! Now if only I had thought to buy them in every color 😉
