Save vs Splurge: Amazon Designer Inspired Edition

Want the look for less? I got you girl. I personally own a few designer inspired items myself because why buy the real deal when you can get the same look for less? That being said I’ve been known to splurge a time or two on designer items because I like nice things if/when I can afford them. And after all the real deal is going to have more meaning and last a lot longer.

Disclaimer: I am not saying that designer inspired items are right or wrong. I am simply providing the service of uncovering them. Also know that not every one of these designer inspired items is a hidden gem. Please do your own research and read reviews on the quality and also about the credibility of each Amazon seller before purchasing.

Evening of Design Recap

Evening of Design Robbins Brothers

Last week I had the pleasure of hosting some of Houston’s top influencers for an Evening of Design. This special event was to celebrate the upcoming engagement season (November-February) with a first look at the release of some of Robbins Brothers featured designers’ newest pieces. Even coming from someone as single as they come, trying on some of the prettiest, biggest diamonds you’ve ever seen all while surrounded by your best girls and bottomless wine, is just about the best girl’s night ever. What made it even more special is that not only was it a fun event for everyone in attendance, we were also able to raise money for a very special cause!

The event benefited Wish Upon A Wedding, a non-profit that grants weddings and vow renewals to couples facing serious illness or life-altering circumstances. Robbins Brothers graciously donated $50 to the organization for every guest’s social media post using the hashtag #SelfieForAWish.

I know I’d be a bad friend if I didn’t share these gorgeous pieces with all of my lady friends! No matter your relationship status, a girl can dream right 😉 Below are the seven featured designers and some of the exclusive pieces that were brought in for the event! Feast your eyes ladies!

Tacori – Always one of my favorite brands as their style is very modern and glamorous. With a line from chandelier earrings to engagement rings, this designer has the most gorgeous, clean cut pieces I’ve ever seen!

Robbins Brothers Evening of Design

Henri Daussi – Every single piece from this collection was a total showstopper in every way. If you are a fan of classic, elegant designs with a dramatic center diamond, Daussi is for you!

Robbins Brothers Evening of Design

Karl Lagerfeld – Inspired by Parisian architecture, this collection has some very intricate and geometric designs that you can’t miss. The fashion icon himself designed this line and I think it’s that background that brings something different to the table than any other collection out there.

Coast Diamond – Designed by Jay Gilbert, this line is by far the most elegant one of them all, yet still incredibly timeless. Several of these pieces are paired with gorgeous gemstones, though not pictured here, that bring the rings to life and make them stand out from the rest!

Robbins Brothers Evening of Design

Michael M – Michael M’s collection is bold and brilliant. His European background definitely plays a role in the charm that each piece brings as seen through his unique, sophisticated approach to each ring.

Kirk Kara – One of my personal favorites because of the intricacy in each band detail and romantic appeal of each setting. These rings are truly one of a kind and are perfect for a more sophisticated, daintier style.

Simon G. – With bold pops of color, this collection has something for every occasion whether it be an engagement, anniversary, graduation or birthday!

Visit Robbins Brothers’ website for more information on these designer collections and if you missed my previous blog post about diamonds, check out Mama Adams’ and I’s taste in engagement rings here.

*Thank you Robbins Brothers for sponsoring this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own!*

Gift Guide: Champagne Taste vs. Beer Budget

  1. Designer bags- What girl wouldn’t want a designer bag? We only dream about them on a regular basis and squeal at the thought! Designer bags range in price depending on the brand. Some of my favorite more “budget friendly” brands are Kate Spade, Tory Burch and Rebecca Minkoff. If we are dreaming then I’d have to say Gucci, Chloe and Chanel. Guess what? There are Black Friday deals for all of those!
  2. Designer shoes- Money doesn’t buy happiness but it does buy shoes and that’s kind of the same thing 🙂 There are some great sales on designer shoes going on right now including Stuart Weitzman, Hunter, Sorel and many others!
  3. Designer accessories- Statement earrings are my downfall right now but the good thing is that I don’t foresee them going anywhere anytime soon! Stock up on these fun accessories! Shopbop has so many good ones right now but BaubleBar will forever be my go-to budget friendly option.
  4. Luggage- While luggage ain’t cheap, it’s something that we all need! Do yourself a favor and buy it while it’s on sale.
  5. High end clothing- You can score so many high end brands at major discounts right now thanks to the Shopbop sale. Brands like Alice + Olivia, Self Portrait, endless roseEnglish FactoryLevi’s, and so many more!

  1. Designer dupes- Not ready to shell out the money for the real deal? These *extremely good* knock offs can tide you over! I own the $23 Gucci dupe flats and have seen the $18 belt and Chloe bags in person! They look exactly like the real deal y’all and are a fraction of the cost!
  2. Cozy attire- Whether you are shopping for yourself or somebody else, anything cozy is a sure bet. Fuzzy socks, warm blankets, and pajamas are the way to anyone’s heart and there are so many good ones that are on major sale right now!
  3. Accessories- When in doubt, pretty much every girl likes accessories. Scarves, earrings, purses, you name it. You can usually find scarves and earrings at Target or Charming Charlie. These are my two personal favorite spots to score great deals!

Spring Must Haves: Splurge vs. Save

With April showers gone (fingers crossed), and May flowers upon us, you can bet that means Spring fashion is about to be in full force. If you weren’t already craving pastel colors and skimpier clothing, you better start! There are a few trends this season that I thought I’d give a shoutout to and also cover why there is no reason to splurge on these when the exact same item is out there for considerably less!

  1. Denim mini skirt: This reminds me of the Abercrombie/Hollister high school glory days. The major difference now is that we are actually talking about an appropriate length! Speaking of Abercrombie, I do have to give it to them for stepping up their game. I actually bought a few items (including this denim mini skirt) from there recently. Make sure to size down if you order!
  2. Designer dupe sunglasses: Oversized, designer sunglasses are  ALL the rage right now. The price tag is not so great. Thankfully I have found several dupes that I get compliments on all the time. I basically own every Karen Walker dupe out there. Heck, I could do an entire post just on that! Believe me, ditch the designer shades and save your money for wine (lord knows we all need more of it). And no one will be able to spot the difference!
  3. One piece bathing suits: While not a new trend, you will definitely find more and more options this year. I love the semi-sexy contrast that a lot of retailers are bringing in this year. It kind of defeats the purpose of a one piece, but hey it’s called fashion for a reason right? It doesn’t have to make sense 🙂 Believe it or not, thanks to my friend Britt’s suggestion, my current favorite place to find affordable or designer dupe swimsuits is Amazon! Find some of my favorites here.
  4. Tassel earrings: These bad boys are back and they are bigger than ever this Spring. Every place you look has their own spin on tassel earrings and I probably have spent close to a small fortune on them. I’d say there are worse things to be addicted to but if you are going to spend the money on these, keep it at a minimum as this is a trend that won’t be around forever!
  5. Bow slides/mules: This new trend is one of my favorites although it is also one that I don’t foresee sticking around forever. Because of this reason, I don’t see the reason in investing in such a trendy piece. Target currently has a great selection of designer dupes, at extremely affordable prices. I bought the bow slides in both the pink and black options because $25 was just too great of a deal to pass up! They also come in a striped or taupe option.
